Overview
Kintarou Onsen is a hot-spring ryokan in Uozu, Toyama, where guests can soak in an unusual spring source that mixes sulfur and chloride water, served 100 percent free-flowing straight from the source. Alongside the communal bath and open-air bath, there are private-hire baths the whole family can use, and in summer staying guests can also use the outdoor pool free of charge. Children are welcome to stay; co-sleeping is not available, and rates for infants and toddlers vary according to whether meals and bedding are included. Dinner can also be taken in your room or in a banquet hall (a small function room).
Rooms
Family- and group-friendly rooms include the Japanese-style tatami room with 3 beds (42.8 sq m, for 3 to 5 guests, with futon bedding added for parties of 4 or more) and the Japanese-Western room with 3 beds (63.5 sq m, for 3 to 7 guests), which is the only room at Kintarou Onsen with 3 beds. There is also a Japanese-style tatami room with 2 beds (38 sq m, for 1 to 4 guests; the 5th- and 6th-floor versions take 1 to 6 guests), a Japanese-Western room with 2 beds (52 sq m, for 2 to 5 guests), and large Japanese-style tatami rooms of 17.5 to 25 tatami mats (for 2 to 10 guests). The Mine no Kai annex also has rooms with child rates: a Japanese-modern tatami room with 2 beds (44 sq m, for 1 to 4 guests, in mountain-side and sea-side versions), a Japanese-modern Japanese-Western room with 2 beds (42 sq m, for 2 to 4 guests), a Japanese-modern Japanese-Western room with 2 beds and an open-air bath (44 sq m, for 2 to 4 guests; the in-room open-air bath is not fed by the hot spring), a suite with 2 beds (84 sq m, for 2 to 6 guests), and a suite with an open-air bath (87 sq m, for 2 to 7 guests; the in-room open-air bath is not fed by the hot spring).
Dining
Dinner is served in your room or in a banquet hall (a small function room), an easy setting in which to eat without worrying about other guests. On the kaiseki course plans, dinner is served at a set time in the dining venue, either 6 p.m. or 7:15 p.m. Breakfast is a Japanese and Western buffet, served from 6:30 to 9 a.m. from mid-April to late November and from 7 to 9 a.m. from December to mid-March. If you tell the hotel about food allergies when booking, the menu can be changed to a chef's-choice selection, though the hotel may be unable to accommodate severe cases. Infants and toddlers ages 0 to 2 stay free of charge when neither meals nor futon bedding are included, and are not counted in the number of guests booked.

The onsen has an unusual composition that mixes sulfur spring water with sodium-calcium chloride spring water, and the source water, at around 75°C, is served 100 percent free-flowing straight from the source. There are 2 communal baths: the Hekiga Daiyokuden mural bath hall, reserved for staying guests and available all night, and the rock bath inside the day-use facility Karuna no Yakata. Hours are 5:30 a.m. to 11:30 p.m. The open-air bath is also inside Karuna no Yakata, and staying guests may use it freely. There are also 4 private-hire baths, easy to use when bathing with family or with young children; they are booked in advance at 1,600 yen for 1 hour or 2,100 yen for 2 hours, and are open from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Some rooms at Mine no Kai come with an open-air bath, but these in-room open-air baths are not fed by the hot spring.
