Rooms
There are 3 room types: a mixed-gender dorm room, a women-only dorm room and Ama no Ma, a private Japanese-style tatami room. The mixed-gender dorm room has 4 bunk beds, for 8 beds in all, at 5,000 yen per person per night, or 40,000 yen per room to book the whole room. The women-only dorm room has 2 bunk beds, for 4 beds in all, at 5,000 yen per person per night, or 24,000 yen per room to book the whole room. If you book a shared dorm room in its entirety, you can use it much like a private room. In Ama no Ma you sleep on futons laid out on the tatami. It sleeps up to 2, and the rate is 16,000 yen per room whether 1 or 2 guests stay. The guesthouse's plan list gives the 8-person room as 27 sq m. Children of elementary school age and under can stay in private rooms only: Ama no Ma, or a shared dorm room booked in its entirety.
Dining
You can choose a room-only stay or a stay with breakfast. For breakfast you pick either a hot sandwich or rice porridge, and it must be reserved at check-in. Dinner is not included, but you can order at the attached cafe, which takes orders until 6 p.m. There is a shared kitchen, and guests who cook for themselves can use Oe no Ma, the shared living room. Inside the building, eating and drinking are allowed only in the cafe or the living room, and guests are asked not to eat or drink in their rooms.
Baths
Bathing is in the shared shower rooms only. There are 2 of them, open 24 hours a day, stocked with shampoo, conditioner and body soap.
Family-Friendly Notes
Children of elementary school age and under can stay in private rooms only, so a shared dorm room must be booked in its entirety. Ama no Ma sits directly above the cafe, so you can hear the lively sounds from below. In the bunk beds of the 4-person and 8-person rooms, small children are asked to use the lower bunk. This is a house where a family lives, and the guesthouse advises that you may hear a baby crying or similar sounds at dawn or in the middle of the night; if that would bother you, they do not recommend staying. The 8-person room plans have a child rate. The entire building is non-smoking.

By car, the guesthouse is about 15 minutes from Gokayama IC; by bus, it is about a 20-minute walk from the Kaminashi bus stop on the World Heritage Bus. Free parking for 3 cars is available on the grounds for guests arriving by car. If you need a pickup, you can discuss it when booking, but there is no shuttle to or from Shirakawa-go or Johana Station. Because the guesthouse is in a village in the mountains, guests are asked not to check in after 9 p.m.
