Toyama Excel Hotel Tokyu is a 210-room city hotel about a 3-minute walk from the front of JR Toyama Station. Standard Twin rooms have two beds 120 cm wide, and Standard Double rooms have one bed 160 cm wide; up to 2 children can co-sleep. Cribs are available to borrow free of charge, but the number is limited, and there is no communal bath, onsen or pool. Breakfast is a Western-style buffet that is free for children under 3, and the restaurant also offers children's menu items.
Rooms
The hotel offers a wide range of rooms, from Standard Single, Twin and Double through Superior Twin, Excel Twin, Deluxe Twin and Premier Twin (junior suite). The Standard Twin is 17.6 sq m with two beds 120 cm wide, and the Standard Double is 17.6 sq m with one bed 160 cm wide. For parties of 3 or more, there are Superior Twin rooms (23 sq m, for 1-3 guests), Excel Twin rooms (31.1 sq m, with two beds 120 cm wide side by side, for 1-3 guests) and Deluxe Twin rooms (36 sq m, for 1-4 guests), all of which have children's rates. For families, there are also room types that add an extra bed to the 23.0 sq m Excel Twin or the 36.0 sq m Premier Twin A, as well as a room for 4 guests that adds one sofa bed and one extra bed to the Premier Twin A. Every room has an air purifier with a humidifying function.
Children's Rates and Co-Sleeping
Up to 2 children can co-sleep. Elementary school children, in both the upper and lower grades, pay 100% of the adult rate, and infants and toddlers booked with bedding but no meals also pay 100% of the adult rate. Plans for infants and toddlers with meals, or without bedding, cannot be accepted. On the other hand, there is no charge for a child who has not yet started elementary school and is co-sleeping without needing a bed. Cribs are provided free of charge, but the number is limited and one may not be available depending on the room you book. Please request one when making your reservation.
Dining
The restaurant Rico Monte on the 15th and top floor serves a Japanese and Western breakfast buffet at 3,200 yen for adults (the adult rate applies from elementary school age), 1,600 yen for ages 3 to 6, and free for children under 3. A kids' meal and a children's dinner plate are also available, but these children's menu items and other special dishes such as a birthday cake require advance reservation. If you have a food allergy, you can let the hotel know when booking, although severe food allergies may not be able to be accommodated.
Family-Friendly Notes
There is no communal bath, private-hire bath, onsen, open-air bath, indoor or outdoor pool, or babysitting service. The hotel is not suited to a stay centered on bathing or pool play on site, but guest rooms have washlet toilets and an air purifier with a humidifying function, and the location is convenient, within a 5-minute walk of the station and of a convenience store.
Access and Parking
The hotel is a 3-minute walk from the front of JR Toyama Station (CIC Building), and 20 minutes by bus from Toyama Airport plus a 1-minute walk from the bus stop. Tokyo to Toyama takes 2 hours 7 minutes by Shinkansen, and Kanazawa to Toyama takes 22 minutes. There is no dedicated parking; guests use designated contracted parking at either the municipal Sakuramachi Parking (vehicle height up to 2.0 m) or Chugeki Ekimae Parking (vehicle height up to 2.1 m) for 1,400 yen per night (2 p.m. to 11 a.m. the next day).
