Rooms
Guest rooms are divided between the Rantei and Main Building. Rantei rooms have a modern feel and are entered from their own hall, while the Main Building holds classic Japanese-style tatami rooms with a calm, settled character. The Rantei Special Room Futama consists of a 10-tatami room, a 6-tatami bedroom and a living room, and it has two semi-double beds, which suits co-sleeping with a small child. It sleeps up to 7 guests, so it works well for three-generation trips too. The Main Building Kikutei Japanese-style tatami room is a standard 10-tatami room renovated in summer 2024, with a shower room rather than a bathtub. The Main Building Kikutei Western-style room is a business-hotel-style room with two semi-double twin beds, in-room Wi-Fi and a desk. There is also the Baitei Japanese-style tatami room, with its appealing retro character. For dinner you can choose from three grades of kaiseki cuisine. There is the standard Shiki Aoi Kaiseki, the top-of-the-range Shiki Hanayagi Kaiseki and the more affordable Shiki Irodori Kaiseki, and all of them draw on the bounty of the region: seafood from Toyama Bay, vegetables raised on Kurobe's famous spring water, and Toyama-grown Koshihikari rice. Breakfast is a Japanese and Western buffet made with seasonal local ingredients, served in Maronier, a breakfast venue with a striking atrium where you can take in the beauty of the gorge as you eat. For children, there is a kids' kaiseki for elementary school children (with dishes such as griddle-cooked Toyama beef and fried prawns) and a Japanese-style kids' meal for children under school age (with hand-rolled sushi and griddle-cooked Toyama beef, among other dishes). Junior high school students are served the same food as adults. If you have dietary restrictions such as allergies, the kitchen will accommodate them with a special meal as far as possible.
Baths and Onsen
The onsen is a weakly alkaline simple spring, 100% from the source with no water added and no reheating. The communal bath with an open-air bath alternates between men and women, and it is open from 3 p.m. to 11 p.m. and again from 5 a.m. to 10 a.m. the next morning. The changing rooms of both the communal bath and the communal bath with the open-air bath have baby beds, so you can bathe with peace of mind even with a small child. For more private time there is also a private-hire open-air bath, available by reservation from 3 p.m. to 10 p.m. at 3,300 yen including tax for one hour (60 minutes). Day-use bathing is available too, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. (last departure from the building), at 1,000 yen for adults and 500 yen for ages 0 to 12.
