Kinosaki Onsen Yanagiso is a ryokan in the center of the Kinosaki Onsen hot-spring town, a 6-minute walk from JR Kinosaki Onsen Station. Its guest rooms are split between two annexes, Bekkan Kazan and Shin-Bekkan Tsuruki, and between them guests can use 5 private-hire indoor baths free of charge. The Baby Plan for families with babies provides a kettle for powdered formula, a diaper bin, a nap mat and other items. Rooms
Guest rooms are split between two annexes, Bekkan Kazan and Shin-Bekkan Tsuruki. Bekkan Kazan has 11 rooms sleeping up to 8 guests, and Shin-Bekkan Tsuruki has 6 rooms sleeping up to 6. Every room in Shin-Bekkan Tsuruki is a pure Japanese-style tatami room with its own bath and toilet, where you sleep on futon bedding laid on the tatami. The Shin-Bekkan Tsuruki rooms are Japanese-style tatami rooms of 10 or 12 tatami mats.
Dining
Dinner and breakfast are served in the dining area on the 2nd floor of the main building. It is laid out in semi-private rooms, so you can take your time without worrying about other guests. Children's chairs are available, but there are only 5 low floor chairs for younger children, so you need to request one when you book. Meals for elementary school children are 70% of the adult rate; for children under school age the rate is 9,800 yen with meals and futon bedding, and they are served their own kids' meal. Without meals but with futon bedding it is 5,800 yen, and without meals or futon bedding it is 3,800 yen. If your child has a food allergy, let the ryokan know when you book and the dishes will be changed accordingly.
Baths
There are 5 private-hire indoor baths in all - 3 in Bekkan Kazan and 2 in Shin-Bekkan Tsuruki - and every one of them is free to use with no reservation needed. Bathing hours are from 3 p.m. to midnight and from 5 a.m. to 9 a.m. the next morning. The indoor bath in the main building is currently suspended, and the date it will reopen has not been decided. On the Baby Plan, a baby bath, a baby chair and baby soap are available to borrow for use in the private-hire baths.
Family-Friendly Features
Yanagiso has only stairs. If you would rather not use them, for example if walking is difficult, a first-floor room can be arranged in either Bekkan Kazan or Shin-Bekkan Tsuruki, but numbers are limited, so ask early. For families with a baby, meals are served in the dining area on the 2nd floor of the main building rather than in your room, and you may take a stroller into the dining area. The Baby Plan provides a kettle that can be set to 70°C for powdered formula, a diaper bin, baby wipes, a nap mat for your child to lie down on, and a children's chair. Baby food can be warmed in a microwave or in a hot-water bath, and baby tableware is provided. If you need hot water for a night feeding, ask the staff looking after you and extra will be prepared. The Baby Plan covers children ages 0 to 2, and there is no accommodation charge for the children it covers.
Access
It is a 6-minute walk from JR Kinosaki Onsen Station. A free shared check-in bus also runs from the station, timed to the arrivals and departures of limited express trains, from 12:30 p.m. to 6 p.m. Staying guests receive a pass for the town's public bathhouses (sotoyu) with unlimited entry from check-in until 1 p.m. the day after their stay. Nearby is Takenohama Beach, whose shallow water lets even small children enjoy the sea with peace of mind, and Hyogo Prefectural Maruyamagawa Koen, about 5 minutes away by car, has a large pool that includes shallow lanes for children under school age and elementary school children (flotation rings cannot be used).
