There are 11 guest rooms. The basic room type, the traditional Japanese-style tatami room, is purely Japanese in style at 8 to 16 tatami mats, and there are also Japanese-Western rooms with twin or semi-double beds (for 3 or more guests, futon bedding is used). Every room has its own Western-style toilet with a washlet. The guest rooms are on the second and third floors, and there is no elevator. The third-floor Japanese-Western rooms and some of the Japanese-style tatami rooms are set up so that children cannot stay in them, while the second-floor rooms and the "ryokan's choice" rooms do have child rates, so families with children need to check the room type when booking.
Dining
Both dinner and breakfast are served in the private dining rooms on the first floor, so you are never seated with other guests. Dinner starts at 5:30, 5:45 or 6 p.m., and breakfast at 8 or 8:30 a.m. Elementary school children pay 70% of the adult rate and receive the adult meal with a few dishes left out. For children who have not yet started elementary school there are set rates: 8,250 yen for a kids' meal, breakfast and futon bedding; 6,050 yen for a kids' meal and breakfast without futon bedding; 4,950 yen for futon bedding only; and an admission fee of 2,750 yen for children aged 2 and over who need neither meals nor bedding. Children aged 0 to 1 who use nothing at all stay free of charge; in that case they are not counted in the number of guests, and you need to say so when booking. For allergies to crab, shrimp, squid, shellfish and the like, the ryokan will accommodate you as far as it can if you tell them the number of adults and children.
Baths and Onsen
The spring water is a sodium and calcium chloride spring. In Kinosaki Onsen a local ordinance governs the size of a ryokan's own indoor bath, limiting the size of the tub in proportion to the ryokan's capacity, so the indoor bath here is on the small side. Staying guests are therefore given tickets for the public bathhouses, and the idea is that you enjoy the larger baths on a tour of the town. There are 2 private-hire baths: the ceramic bath Tsuki and the iron-kettle bath Nagare. The ceramic bath is a little roomier and can be used by families with children, while the iron-kettle bath is built for 2 people and suits couples. The private-hire baths must be reserved, though you can still book one on the day if a slot is open. Access
It is a 10-minute walk from JR Kinosaki Onsen Station, and a free bus also runs from the station to the ryokan. This bus is timed to the arrival of the limited express trains, and the last one meets the train arriving just before 6 p.m. There is parking for 15 cars, free for staying guests, and if you arrive by car the staff will guide you to it. It is about 30 minutes by car from the Toyooka-Izushi Interchange on the Kita-Kinki Toyooka Expressway.
