Jingu Kaikan is a mainly tatami-room inn a 5-minute walk from the Uji Bridge at the Naiku, the Inner Shrine of Ise Jingu, with Okage Yokocho right in front. The main building has Japanese-style tatami rooms of 10, 12 and 21 tatami mats plus a Western-style twin room, and the West Building has a 12-tatami Japanese-style room and a Japanese-style twin, so you can choose by the size of your family. Dinner includes an Okosama Gozen kids' meal set for children up to age 12 (the sixth grade of elementary school), and the women's side of the communal bath, which is for staying guests only, has a baby bed. Children up to age 3 stay free of charge (futon bedding, towels and meals are not included), and children from age 4 through the sixth grade of elementary school pay the elementary school rate.
Rooms
On the second and third floors of the main building there are Japanese-style tatami rooms of 10 mats (sleeping up to 4) and 12 mats (sleeping up to 5), a 21-mat Japanese-style tatami room for groups (sleeping up to 8), and a 42 sq m Western-style twin room (sleeping 2). Every room in the main building has an en-suite bathroom with a washlet toilet. The size of the Western-style twin is given as 42 sq m in one place and 33 sq m in another, so please confirm when booking. Because the Western-style twin sleeps only 2, parties of 3 or more will need to choose one of the Japanese-style tatami rooms. The 12-mat room on the second floor of the West Building (Japanese-style twin) is a 12-mat tatami room laid out with twin beds, and from the third guest onward people sleep on futons. The West Building's 12-mat Japanese-style tatami room (sleeping up to 5) and Japanese-style twin have no bath or toilet, so guests use the communal bath and the shared toilets on each floor. For those West Building rooms without a bath or toilet, there are washlet-equipped toilets on every floor. All guest rooms are non-smoking. Room equipment includes an air purifier with a humidifying function, an electric kettle, a refrigerator and a hair dryer, and free Wi-Fi is available in the building, apart from some areas. Shampoo, body soap and conditioner are provided as room amenities in the main building only. There are 65 rooms in total.
Dining
Both breakfast and dinner are served in the restaurant, and no in-room dining is listed. Meals are served either in the fourth-floor lounge of the main building or in the Shimaji and Kamiji rooms on the second floor of the main building. For dinner there is an Okosama Gozen kids' meal set for children up to age 12 (the sixth grade of elementary school), made up of two kinds of fried dishes, Hamburg steak, a clear soup, two kinds of sashimi, a cold or warm dish, rice, dessert and a juice pack. The kaiseki courses are the Irodori Kaiseki, the Oise-mairi Kaiseki and the head chef's recommended kaiseki (which comes with Ise lobster sashimi). Breakfast is a set Japanese meal. Dinner is served from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. and breakfast from 7 a.m. to 9 a.m.; at check-in you will be asked whether you would like dinner at 5:30, 6, 6:30 or 7 p.m. As for food allergies, the inn states that it will prepare meals with an effort to remove the 7 specified allergenic ingredients (wheat, egg, milk, buckwheat, peanut, shrimp and crab). However, because the same cooking utensils and the same cooking oil are used, trace amounts may still be present, and removal is not guaranteed. If your child has a severe allergy, you may bring retort-pouch or frozen food and eat at the same table as everyone else, and the staff will help heat it if needed. In either case you need to say so when booking or well in advance, as requests made on the day may not be able to be accommodated. There are said to be almost no places to eat dinner within walking distance of the inn, and shops in the area mostly close once evening sets in, so please keep this in mind if you book a plan without dinner.
Baths
The communal bath, for staying guests only, is on the first floor of the West Building and is open from 3 p.m. to midnight and from 5 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. It is stocked with shampoo, conditioner, body soap and hair dryers, and a baby bed is placed in the women's bath only, so parents with a baby can lay the child down in the changing room while getting ready. Whether children who are not yet out of diapers may bathe is not stated, so please inquire if this matters to you. If you stay in a West Building room without a bath or toilet, this communal bath is where you will bathe.
Family-Friendly Features
Children up to age 3 stay free of charge, but futon bedding, towels and meals are not included and cost extra if needed. Children from age 4 through the sixth grade of elementary school pay the elementary school rate, and junior high school students pay the adult rate. On the inn's rate table, the children's rate for ages 4 to 12 (one night with two meals and a children's meal) is 10,500 yen for the main building's Japanese-style tatami rooms and Western-style room, and 9,500 yen for the West Building's Japanese-style tatami rooms (rates in effect from October 1, 2025, tax included). The in-room air purifier has a humidifying function. There is a coin laundry in the building (for a fee; 3 washing machines and 2 dryers, from 7 a.m. to 11 p.m.). An iron, ironing board, trouser press, nail clippers and a wheelchair are available, with the iron, trouser press and wheelchair listed as items to borrow.
Access
It is a 5-minute walk to the Naiku of Ise Jingu, and Okage Yokocho is right in front. From Kintetsu Ujiyamada Station it is about 15 minutes on a bus bound for Naiku-mae. That said, the inn's access information gives both an explanation that you get off at the Jingu Kaikan-mae stop on the Mie Kotsu bus bound for the Naiku and arrive right away, and a notice that the Jingu Kaikan-mae stop (for buses bound for the Naiku) can no longer be used for boarding or alighting from October 1; the link giving details of that notice cannot currently be opened. If you are coming by bus, please check in advance which stops you can use. The bus stop for Iseshi Station and Ujiyamada Station is 20 m to the left as you step out through the automatic doors in front of the front desk. Parking is at the Jingu Worshippers' Parking Lot adjoining the inn (capacity for 200 cars and 7 buses), and staying guests have their parking ticket validated free of charge at the front desk. It is limited to four-wheeled vehicles no more than 5 m long, 2 m wide and 2.1 m high; if it is full, please come to the front desk. There is no shuttle service. The nearest convenience store (FamilyMart) is a 7-minute walk away (600 m) and is open from 7 a.m. to 11 p.m. Check-in is at 3 p.m. (last check-in midnight) and checkout is at 10 a.m. A guided early-morning visit to the shrine departs at 6:30 a.m. every morning, free of charge for staying guests only, and takes about 1 hour and 40 minutes. On plans that include breakfast, breakfast is served after you return from the visit. It is not held from January 1 to January 3.
