Rooms
Gero Onsen Minoriso has 31 rooms in total. The Japanese-style tatami rooms come in 6- and 8-tatami sizes, along with more spacious 10-, 12-, 15- and 18-tatami rooms. There are 7 Western-style rooms; at around 6 tatami mats in size with two beds in place, they can feel a little tight. Rooms generally have neither a bath nor a toilet, though some do have a toilet and are given first to guests with limited mobility. Every room has a free safe. When one group books several rooms, adjoining rooms are normally arranged, but depending on the number of guests and the room types they may end up apart.

Dinner service starts at 6 p.m., with the last seating at 7 p.m., so please let the ryokan know in advance if you will arrive after 6 p.m. For food allergies, ingredients you cannot eat can be left out, but you need to say so when booking, as requests may not be possible to accommodate on the day. The refrigerator in your room is left empty, and you may bring in small amounts of juice or alcohol, though you cannot bring drinks into the dining venue.

The water at Minoriso is a natural onsen flowing straight from the source 24 hours a day, an alkaline simple spring. It has a silky, enveloping softness and is said to be good for the skin and for recovery from fatigue. There are two bathing areas, open around the clock. There is no open-air bath; the baths are all indoors. A private-hire family bath is also available, for an additional charge and by reservation only. The tubs have handrails for getting in and out, but there are no handrails in the changing rooms, the washing areas or the passageways. The baby bed in the communal bath changing room is set up in the women's bath only. Children's yukata are provided for children whose stay carries a charge, apart from those aged 1 to 2. Bathing in a swimsuit is not permitted.
Family-Friendly Features
The elevator reaches up to the 4th floor; the 5th and 6th floors are accessible by stairs only. Guests can move around the building in a wheelchair and use the restaurant, but the rooms are not fully barrier-free, so an attendant is needed in the room and in the communal bath. Air purifiers are set up in rooms, but numbers are limited, so please inquire when booking if you need one. If you would like to extend your checkout, there is a plan that includes lunch and lets you keep the room until 1 p.m., at 1,620 yen per person including tax. Gero City's accommodation tax is not charged for children under 12. Children from ages 0 to 3 stay free of charge. Children aged 4 and over can only be booked at the child rate that includes meals and futon bedding; meals only, futon bedding only, and co-sleeping are not available. Access
The ryokan is a 2-minute drive or a 7-minute walk from Gero Station on the JR Takayama Main Line. Call when you reach Gero Station and someone will come to pick you up; during your stay, transfers to Gero Station run between 3 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. by reservation. Parking is free for 30 cars, with no reservation needed. Gero Onsen Gassho Village is about 5 minutes away by car, and there is a morning market nearby, closed in winter. Gifu Prefectural Gero Onsen Hospital is about 3 minutes away by car and accepts emergency cases.
