At the island's only observatory, a Hoshi no Sommelier stargazing guide leads star watching every night. You can observe the night sky through a large telescope, and the observatory is reached by elevator from the first-floor lobby. Kyukamura Minami-Awaji sits on a rise at the southern tip of Awaji Island, looking out over the Naruto Strait and Fukura Bay. Guests come for Shiosai no Yu, an onsen with a view open-air bath and an indoor bath, and for the buffet built around seafood from the waters off Awaji. Families are well looked after when it comes to equipment: child chairs and portable bassinets in the dining hall, free rental of bed-wetting sheets and toilet-training seats for guest rooms, and a baby bed in the communal bath. In the evening, there is star watching at the observatory as well.
Rooms
The rooms at Kyukamura Minami-Awaji range widely, from the 71.4 sq m premium Japanese-Western room on the top floor overlooking the Naruto Strait to Japanese-Western rooms with a shower booth, Western-style twin rooms and 10-tatami Japanese-style tatami rooms. The Japanese-Western room with a shower booth is 36 sq m with a shower and toilet, and sleeps 1 to 4 guests. The Western-style twin has two beds measuring 110 cm wide by 210 cm long and sleeps 1 to 3 guests; with an extra bed, up to 3 guests can stay. The 10-tatami Japanese-style tatami room has a toilet but no bath and sleeps up to 5 guests, which works well for a family. Every room has an air purifier with a humidifying function, and pillows, bed-wetting sheets and toilet-training seats are available to borrow free of charge, in limited numbers. The Japanese-style tatami rooms also have a step stool for the washbasin, a potty and yukata in a 130 cm size. All rooms are non-smoking.
Dining
Dinner is served at the Awaji Island Kitchen Kaikyo Buffet, where the dishes are built around ingredients from Awaji Island and the Awa and Naruto areas. The 11.5-meter live kitchen turns out freshly made sashimi, sushi, tempura and freshly piped Mont Blanc. Breakfast is also buffet-style, served from 7 a.m. to 9 a.m. For families, the dining hall has child chairs, portable bassinets, children's tableware and paper bibs, in limited numbers. Even when the adults choose the kaiseki course, children dining with them are served a children's meal, at the same price as with the buffet. Hot water for formula and warming of baby food can also be arranged. For guests with food allergies, Kyukamura makes every effort it can to accommodate them.
Baths and Onsen
The onsen, Shiosai no Yu, has a large indoor bath and a view open-air bath, and it is known for the view it commands over the Naruto Strait. The open-air bath has an infinity design in which the water overflows on the sea-facing side, so soaking in it makes you feel at one with the scenery around you. The changing room has a baby bed, and the bathing area has children's stools. Bath chairs are lent out at the front desk, so you can use the communal bath together with a small child; numbers are limited. Note that under Hyogo Prefecture regulations, mixed bathing is not permitted for boys and girls of roughly age 7 and over.

Access
From Sannomiya Station it is about 90 minutes by highway bus; get off at the Fukura bus stop and take the shuttle bus that runs from in front of Nanairokan, a 3-minute walk away, to the property. Please check the shuttle's operating status in advance. By car, it is about 7 minutes from the Awajishima-minami Interchange and about 20 minutes from Seidan-Mihara Interchange. There is parking for about 100 cars, free for staying guests.
