forumWhat families say

Rakuten Travel rating 4.33 out of 5 (1,162 reviews). Several reviews praise the tatami-floored communal bath, which is not slippery and lets young children and family members unsteady on their feet bathe with peace of mind. Guests also mention enjoying the Akabeko papier-mache cow painting experience as a family. At dinner, the kamameshi (rice steamed in its own small pot) cooked in front of guests is well received, while some report that the front desk was crowded during the morning checkout period.

Indoor

A baby bed is set up in the changing room of the communal bath. The communal bath itself is floored entirely with tatami and is not slippery, so families with young children can move easily from getting ready to bathing. Handrails are also installed on the way to the tub.

Kids' meal sets and meal sets for preschool-age children

Indoor

At dinner, kids' meal sets and meal sets for preschool-age children are prepared according to the child's age. Overview

Ashinomaki Grand Hotel is a Japanese-style hotel along the Okawa Gorge in Aizu Ashinomaki Onsen. The communal bath is floored entirely with tatami, so it is not slippery, and handrails lead to the tub, letting everyone from young children to older guests bathe with peace of mind. The open-air bath is a Shigaraki-ware ceramic bath filled with water straight from the spring source. For dinner you can choose between a private room, a banquet room, in-room dining or the large hall, and kids' meal sets and meal sets for preschool-age children are available. A baby bed is set up in the changing room. A free shuttle from Ashinomaki Onsen Station is available by reservation between the 8 a.m. and 6 p.m. hours, and there is free parking for 100 cars.

Rooms

The rooms facing the gorge are purely Japanese-style tatami rooms, offered in 10-tatami and 12-tatami sizes depending on the number of guests. The Japanese-modern Japanese-Western rooms and Japanese-Western rooms along the mountain stream have twin beds; when 4 guests stay, 2 of them sleep on futons. On the hot-spring town side there are Japanese-style rooms fitted with 2 beds, and futons are prepared for stays of 3 or 4 guests. Guest rooms have a Western-style toilet with a bidet seat, a bath, air conditioning and heating, a refrigerator, a television and a safe. All rooms have been non-smoking since July 2020.

Dining

Dinner is served at 6 p.m., 6:30 p.m. or 7 p.m., and you can choose between a private room, a banquet room, in-room dining and the large hall. The dishes center on seafood and use seasonal ingredients. Breakfast is served from 7:30 a.m. or 8 a.m. in the large hall. Accommodation plans include kids' meal sets and meal sets for preschool-age children, and many plans have children's rates.

Baths and Onsen

The communal bath is a Japanese-style bath floored entirely with tatami. Because of the tatami it is not slippery, so everyone from young children to older guests can bathe with peace of mind, and handrails are installed on the way to the tub. There is one open-air bath, and both the communal bath and the open-air bath switch between men and women from the day of arrival to the following morning. The changing room has free lockers with keys and a baby bed. The types of spring water include chloride spring and simple onsen, all weakly alkaline, hypotonic and high-temperature.

Family-Friendly Features

The communal bath is tatami-floored and not slippery, so children can bathe with peace of mind. The baby bed in the changing room makes it easier to get ready for a bath even with an infant. Dinner includes kids' meal sets and meal sets for preschool-age children, and many plans have children's rates. Since every room is non-smoking, the hotel is an easy place to stay with young children. For accessibility, wheelchairs are available to borrow, and guest rooms have Western-style toilets with handrails.
