To reach Miyajima, take the ferry from Miyajimaguchi, about 10 minutes. Strollers can go straight onto the ferry, but the island has cobblestones and slopes, so a baby carrier is a good backup. Deer are everywhere on the island, so be careful when carrying food. Tomonoura, Onomichi, and the Shimanami area are about 1 to 1.5 hours by car from Hiroshima city. Trains and buses also work, but service is limited. In the city, streetcars reach the main sights, so the ride doubles as a train experience for kids.
