Omotenashi Hostel Miyajima

This children's play area is located in the first-floor shared lounge, which accommodates more than 80 people. It has a slide, trampoline, pretend-play kitchen, video games, table tennis, maze ball, Tomica MAP, Yogibo, Moon Cushion, bowling, drawing activities, board games, puzzles and many other toys and play features. There is also a shelf of welcome Japanese dagashi snacks. The lounge is open to the local community and may be used by people who are not staying at the hostel, but groups of children alone may use it only until 5 p.m.

These themed special rooms turn the guest room itself into a play space. The Camp Room has forest scenery on the walls, artificial grass on the floor, a faux-fire BBQ grill, hammock, putt-putt golf, remote-controlled cars and a starry-sky planetarium for an indoor camping experience. The Fairy Tale Room has fairy-carnival-style illumination and an attraction-style slide. The Beach, Savannah and Space rooms also have distinctive designs.

This rooftop BBQ space is available for private use by one group at a time, with open views of the Seto Inland Sea. In summer, a small household pool can be added as a JPY 500 option. The BBQ equipment set costs JPY 5,000 and includes charcoal, seasonings and paper plates; guests bring their own food and drinks. Additional options include a chilled-in-ice set for JPY 1,000 and telescope rental at no charge. Pets are allowed on the rooftop, and gaps beneath the fence are closed.

There is no communal bath or onsen; guests use the shower rooms on each floor. The 2nd floor is women's-only, the 3rd floor is men's-only and the 4th floor is for both men and women. There is just one bathtub in the women's-only shower room; the men's-only and shared shower rooms have no bathtub. Shampoo, conditioner and body soap are provided at no charge, and each floor's shower room has 4 hair dryers. Guests who want a leisurely soak can ask the front desk for information about nearby bathing facilities such as Hono-yu.

The first floor has a BAR with 140 types of alcohol, a food space serving light meals, hot snacks and izakaya-style dishes, and a shop stocked with items such as rice balls, sandwiches, cup noodles and snacks. The shared kitchen has cooking utensils, seasonings, tableware, an induction cooktop, microwave and toaster, allowing guests to prepare their own food. This is primarily a room-only hostel; breakfast is an optional service that must be requested at check-in.

A selection of free and paid items is available to borrow for guests. Most amenities are provided at no charge, and guests may take 1 item per person from the amenities bar in front of the front desk.
