Miyajima Shioyu Onsen Kinsuikan is an onsen ryokan a 5-minute walk from Miyajima Pier. The communal baths are filled with Miyajima Shioyu Onsen water drawn 100% from the ryokan's own spring source, and dinner is ryokan-style cooking built around locally sourced Hiroshima ingredients. Some rooms offer free co-sleeping for children under 2. Elementary school children are served a meal similar to the adults', and younger children under school age are served a kids' meal. Children under school age cannot use the Waraku room, and children of elementary school age and under cannot enter the Otona no Kyujitsu room. There is no indoor or outdoor pool and no childcare service.
Rooms
Kiraku, a 10-tatami-mat Japanese-style tatami room (39 sq m, for 1 to 4 guests), has an indoor bath, though the bath is not fed by the onsen. Rakuza is 46 sq m, a 10-tatami-mat Japanese-style tatami room with an adjoining 4-tatami-mat anteroom, for 1 to 4 guests, with a massage chair and an indoor bath. Waraku is a triple-bed room (39 sq m, for 2 to 4 guests): a 10-tatami-mat Japanese-style tatami room with two single beds and one double bed. To prevent falls, children who have not yet started elementary school cannot use it, while children of elementary school age and older can. Mizuori (a 10-tatami-mat Japanese-style tatami room, 46 sq m, for up to 4 guests including elementary school children and younger children) has an ocean view, and its in-room bath is a shower booth only. Roku, with a semi-open-air bath (86 sq m, for up to 5 guests, limited to one room per day, universal design), and Sai, Ka and Ai (from 78 sq m, for 2 to 5 guests) each have two electric beds in a semi-double size plus an 8-tatami-mat Japanese-style tatami room, and their capacity includes elementary school children and younger children. The semi-open-air baths in Roku, Sai, Ka and Ai are artificial hot springs using Komyoseki mineral stone. You cannot choose which of Sai, Ka or Ai you get, and these rooms have no view of the sea or the Otorii gate. Otona no Kyujitsu, a special room with a semi-open-air bath for 2 guests, does not admit children of elementary school age and under.

If you would like a kids' meal for an elementary school child, book the child as a young child with meals and futon bedding. For children aged 0 to 1 you do not need to enter a child category when booking; instead, let the ryokan know how many children are coming in advance, through the remarks field, by phone or by email. You choose a dinner start time of 6 p.m., 6:30 p.m., 7 p.m. or 7:30 p.m., but times are assigned in order of arrival on the day, so your preference may not be possible. On the upgraded-cuisine plans (the fish course and the meat course), dinner is in-room dining for the Suites Sai, Ai and Ka, Suite Roku and Mizuori, and is served in the restaurant for Rakuza, Kiraku and Waraku. At the restaurant Himeakari, each table can be turned into a semi-private space by lowering a noren curtain. Food allergies are accommodated as far as possible if you let the ryokan know at least 5 days in advance, but cross-contamination cannot be completely eliminated. The ryokan cannot remove seafood stock from dishes, or cater for vegetarian, vegan, religious or gluten-free diets. Oyster dishes are included depending on the season, so if you would prefer a meal without oysters, you need to let the ryokan know in advance. Oysters are served after heating at 85 to 90 degrees Celsius or higher for at least 90 seconds, and raw oysters are not served.
Baths and Onsen
There are two communal baths, Kokon no Yu and Haon no Yu, both filled with Miyajima Shioyu Onsen water drawn 100% from the ryokan's own source. For children aged 6 and over, the ryokan notes that restrictions on mixed bathing apply. Whether children in diapers may enter the tubs is not stated, so please confirm with the ryokan. Guests with tattoos, tattoo stickers or body paint cannot use the communal baths, so take care with any stickers on your children as well. The shampoo bar in the communal baths includes options for sensitive skin and for babies. The bathing tax is not charged for children of elementary school age and under. Guests staying in Mizuori can use the private bath Utakata free of charge. From 4 p.m. to 10:45 p.m. it is reserved in 45-minute slots (same-day reservations only), and from 7 a.m. to 10 a.m. the next morning it is open for free use. The rooms where children under 2 co-sleep free of charge are the Suites Sai, Ai and Ka, Suite Roku, Mizuori, Rakuza and Kiraku, and you need to request this when booking. There is no indoor pool, no outdoor pool and no childcare service. The list of in-house equipment includes a humidifier with an air-purifying function.
Access
The boat from Miyajimaguchi Pier takes 10 minutes to reach Miyajima Pier, and from there it is a 5-minute walk along Kaigan-dori to the entrance. A free shuttle runs from Miyajima Pier; call the ryokan on the day of arrival, before you board the ferry. Check-in is at 3 p.m. and checkout is at 11 a.m. Parking is free for staying guests, with space for 4 cars, but because traffic is restricted on the island, using the paid parking at Miyajimaguchi is recommended.
