Uozu Manten Hotel Ekimae

forumWhat families say

Rakuten Travel rating 4.41 out of 5 (2,038 reviews). Several guests find it handy that they can check how crowded the communal bath is on their phone, and say its fully open design keeps the air from getting stuffy. Reviews also single out the free late-night Toyama Black ramen service and the breakfast. On the other hand, some guests mention that the noise from the air-conditioning fan bothered them, so it is worth bearing in mind if quiet matters to you.

Overview

Uozu Manten Hotel Ekimae is a business hotel a 1-minute walk from Uozu Station. Every room is non-smoking and has a Simmons bed, and staying guests can use the communal bath, which includes an open-air bath and a sauna, free of charge. Each room takes up to 2 adults, but one child of elementary school age or under can co-sleep free of charge. There are also connecting rooms, where two adjoining rooms are joined by an interior door, which suit family stays. Breakfast offers a choice of a Japanese or Western set meal, and children under elementary school age may help themselves at the salad bar and drink bar.

Rooms

Guest rooms come in three types, plus connecting rooms. The Standard Single is 12 sq m with one bed 120 cm wide by 195 cm long and takes 1 to 2 guests. The Standard Double is 12 sq m with a bed 140 cm by 195 cm. The Deluxe Twin is 20 sq m with two beds 110 cm by 195 cm and is guaranteed on the top floor, the 10th floor. The connecting rooms are two adjoining single rooms linked by an interior door (12 sq m each, with two beds 120 cm by 195 cm) and take 2 to 4 guests. Because the connecting rooms use 120 cm-wide semi-double beds, they make co-sleeping with a child easier. Each room takes a maximum of 2 adults, so a family of four is best suited to the connecting rooms. Guest rooms also have an en-suite bathroom. Extra beds and barrier-free rooms are not available.

Dining

Breakfast is served from 6:30 to 9:30 a.m. (last order at 9 a.m.) at Mansaku on the second floor, and costs 1,780 yen per person, tax included. Guests choose between a Japanese or Western set meal, with unlimited drinks, salad and bread, and children under elementary school age may help themselves at the salad bar and drink bar. The dining room inside the hotel serves breakfast only, so dinner means eating at one of the restaurants nearby. Every day from 9:30 to 10:30 p.m., Mansaku on the second floor serves Toyama Black, the local ramen of Toyama Prefecture, free of charge and in limited quantities. If you let the hotel know by the day before, it can accommodate disliked ingredients and allergies.

Baths

The second floor has separate communal baths for men and women, which guests can walk to in their room wear and slippers, daily from 3 p.m. to midnight and again from 5 to 10 a.m. the next morning. There is an open-air bath and a sauna, though the water is an artificial radium spring rather than an onsen. There is no private-hire bath, and the communal baths are separated by gender only, so families who want to bathe together are better off using the bathtub in their room. Guests with tattoos cannot use the communal bath.

Family-friendly features

Children of elementary school age and under can co-sleep free of charge, up to one child per bed. If an elementary school child stays as a separate guest rather than co-sleeping, the rate is 100% of the adult rate regardless of grade. Towels, a toothbrush and slippers for co-sleeping children are handed out at the front desk, so please ask when you arrive. Infants and toddlers can co-sleep free of charge only when they need neither meals nor bedding; the hotel cannot accept infants or toddlers who need meals or bedding. Also, when a twin room is used by 1 adult and 1 child, the charge is for 2 adults.

Access

The hotel is a 1-minute walk from Uozu Station on the Ainokaze Toyama Railway and from Shin-Uozu Station on the Toyama Chiho Railway, and about 5 minutes by car from the Uozu IC on the Hokuriku Expressway. There are 35 free parking spaces on the hotel grounds, but they are first-come, first-served and cannot be reserved or held. When the lot is full, the hotel directs guests to the municipal parking a 1-minute walk away, which costs 310 yen for up to 24 hours.
