Overview
Pension KEIKO is a resort-style family pension along the Heisaura Coast in Tateyama, in the Minamiboso area. Its pride is a private pool for staying guests (July through September) and a rooftop observation deck with views reaching Oshima, the Izu Peninsula and Mount Fuji. On the first floor of the main building are two private-hire baths available 24 hours and a playroom with games and play equipment. The kitchen is committed to local ingredients, and the homemade dishes made with vegetables from the pension's own garden and local fish are well regarded; meals can also be adapted to a child's age. Heisaura Coast is an 8-minute walk away, and there is an annex where you can stay with pets.

There is a private pool for staying guests, and from the poolside you can look out at the blue sky and the sunset over the Heisaura Coast. It is open from July 1 to the end of September, from 3 p.m. to 9 p.m. and again from 7 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. the next morning. The water is 1 to 1.3 m deep, so children cannot use it on their own and must always be accompanied by an adult (adults should bring a swimsuit too). You cannot check in wearing a swimsuit, so please change before arriving.
Baths
On the first floor of the main building there are two recirculating private-hire baths available 24 hours. No reservation is needed - you simply lock the door from the inside - and the hours are from 3 p.m. until 9:30 a.m. the next morning. Shampoo, conditioner and body soap are provided; bring your bath towel from your room.
Playroom and Rooftop Observation Deck
The playroom on the first floor of the main building has a water server with both hot and cold water, a microwave, magazines, sightseeing guides, comics and other reading material, and a range of games and play equipment - a space where the family can relax. From the observation deck on the roof of the main building you can see Oshima, the Izu Peninsula, Mount Fuji, the sun setting into the horizon, and a sky full of stars at night (it is closed during strong winds and bad weather, and pets are not allowed there).
Rooms
The main building has 5 rooms, renovated in February 2024. They include a Western-style twin (for guests from junior high school age), Western-style 2-3 bedroom rooms (for children from preschool age up), a Western-style 2-bedroom room (for children from elementary school age up), and a connecting room with a Western-style room for 3 guests plus a Japanese-style tatami room for 2, with a bathroom, toilet and washbasin. The annex where you can stay with pets (2 rooms) also has a bathroom, toilet and washbasin; pets are not allowed in any of the main building's rooms.
Dining
Everything is homemade, using fresh locally caught fish, seasonal vegetables and vegetables from the pension's own garden. The rice is local Nagasa Koshihikari, and the seasonings are chosen with care as well, including Okinawan cane sugar and naturally brewed soy sauce from Futtsu. Dinner runs from an assortment of local sashimi to meat dishes of branded Chiba pork and chicken, and on to dessert. Breakfast is a plate served with rice balls, along with homemade potage. Meals can also be adapted to a child's age. Additional dishes from the Minamiboso area, such as sazae no tsuboyaki (turban shell grilled in its shell), can be ordered on the day.
