Okuma Private Beach & Resort is a cottage and villa resort in Kunigami Village at the northern tip of Okinawa's main island, facing the natural white sands of Okuma Beach. Every room is a cottage, and in the Palm Cottages you take your shoes off at the door and step up onto a wood floor. Cribs, strollers and baby baths are available to borrow free of charge, and there is a 50 cm-deep children's pool and a playroom. Children who have not yet started elementary school can co-sleep, up to the same number as adults.
Rooms
All rooms are cottages or villas. The Palm Cottage (29 sq m, for 1-3 guests, with two beds measuring 110 cm by 197 cm) is the closest to the parking area and the restaurants, making it the most convenient; you take your shoes off at the room entrance and step up onto a wood floor. There is also a maisonette Palm Cottage (41 sq m, for 2-4 guests). The hotel-standard Main Cottage (48 sq m, for 1-5 guests) suits families and groups, and a maisonette version (64 sq m, for 3-7 guests) is available as well. The higher-grade Grand Cottages and Garden Villas are all 48 sq m or larger, and more than 60 sq m including the lanai. Other options are the Grand Maisonette (64 sq m, for 3-6 guests) with four permanent beds, the Junior Suite for two (64 sq m, for 1-2 guests), and the Grand Suite, the largest room at the resort at 125 sq m (for 1-4 guests). When 3 or more guests share a room, additional guests are accommodated on extra beds at 3,500 yen per bed per day.
Dining
Breakfast is a Japanese and Western buffet at Surfside Cafe, priced at 3,000 yen for adults ages 13 and over, 1,500 yen for children ages 6 to 12 and 800 yen for children ages 3 to 5, all including tax. For babies at the weaning stage, rice porridge and yushi-dofu (fluffy tofu, before it is pressed into shape) are available. If you would like baby food you have brought warmed, or baby bottles sterilized, just ask at the front desk and staff will take care of it in a microwave. If your child has a food allergy, the resort will accommodate you as far as possible when you discuss it in advance. The dinner buffet is 3,200 yen for children ages 6 to 12 and 1,200 yen for children ages 3 to 5, and the nigiri sushi buffet is 4,000 yen for children ages 6 to 12 and 2,000 yen for children ages 3 to 5.
Baths
There is a communal bath known as the view bath, plus a sauna, free for staying guests from 10 a.m. to 11 p.m., with last entry at 10:30 p.m. It is not an onsen, and there is no private-hire bath.

Access
The resort is about 90 minutes by car from Naha Airport. A free shuttle bus connects it with central Naha once a day, by reservation only, and reservations must be made by 5 p.m. the day before (capacity 15 people). If anyone falls ill, the Kunigami Village Clinic is 5 minutes away by car.
