Kumonoue Fuji Hotel

A Lake Kawaguchi resort steeped in Japanese character

Kumonoue Fuji Hotel is a resort hotel that opened in December 2020 on high ground by the shore of Lake Kawaguchi. Furnished with pieces that carry centuries of history, including folding screens and ceramics, the interior is a space rich in Japanese character where you can feel Japan's long-standing traditional culture. Surrounded by views of Mount Fuji and the nature of Lake Kawaguchi, guests can spend quiet, elegant time here. The lake is about a 6-minute walk away, which makes the location convenient for a stroll along the shore.

Japanese-Western rooms with balconies throughout, and open-air baths in some rooms

All 21 rooms are Japanese-Western rooms with a tatami area, and each has its own balcony. There are three room types: the Deluxe Room (60 sq m, for 1-4 guests), the Premium Room (46 sq m, for 1-3 guests) and the Standard Room (40 sq m, for 1-3 guests). Some rooms have an open-air bath on the balcony filled with natural water, where the family can bathe together at their own pace while taking in Mount Fuji and Lake Kawaguchi. The tatami space also makes the layout easy to manage for families with babies at the crawling stage.

Hospitality built on refined Japanese cuisine

The restaurant serves Japanese cuisine such as sukiyaki and shabu-shabu set meals made with wagyu beef, including Koshu beef. The bar lounge stocks Japanese whisky and wine from Yamanashi Prefecture, so adults can enjoy time of their own. There is no dedicated children's menu, so children are served the same dishes as adults. Apart from removing allergen ingredients, changes to the menu cannot be accommodated, so families with young children may want to discuss their needs with the hotel in advance.

Staying with children

Children of any age can stay, and children's amenities are provided. There is no communal bath, onsen or pool at the hotel, so bathing takes place in the guest-room bathroom (some rooms also have an open-air bath). There are no vending machines or shop, so it is worth bringing whatever you need with you.

Access

The nearest station is Kawaguchiko Station on the Fujikyuko Line. From there it is about 20 minutes by free shuttle (reservation required for all rides), or about a 10-minute walk from the Kitahamaso-mae bus stop. By car, it is about 15 minutes from the Kawaguchiko IC on the Chuo Expressway. The shuttle from Kawaguchiko Station has a limited number of runs and seats, so advance reservation is required. Cribs are also available in the guest rooms.
