forumWhat families say
Rakuten Travel rating 4.33 out of 5 (3,218 reviews). Guests praise being able to enjoy drinks and snacks in the all-inclusive lounge and take them back to their room. A family of 5 was pleased with the wide variety at breakfast and dinner, and their children were so delighted they did not want to go home. Others value the location near Palace Huis Ten Bosch, which let them rest at the hotel between evening events. On the downside, some reviews mention that the dinner buffet gets crowded at certain times, so they could not relax.

All-inclusive plans include the dinner and breakfast buffets and use of the Open Lounge. Meals are free for children who co-sleep. Co-sleeping is free for children through the sixth grade of elementary school, with up to 2 children per room (except in some rooms). Cribs and bed guards are available to borrow free of charge. There is no communal bath or private-hire bath, so bathing is in your room's bathroom.
Rooms
The hotel is a 6-story building with 228 rooms, offering three kinds of view: Harbor View, Park View and Forest View. For 3 guests there are the Deluxe Harbor View Triple (43 sq m), the Superior Triple (37 sq m) and the Loft Triple (37 sq m). For 4 guests there are the Deluxe Harbor View Family (43 sq m) and the Deluxe Family (60 sq m), and for 5 to 6 guests there is the Concept Room (60 sq m). The 2-Bedroom Suite is a 130 sq m maisonette, and there is only one of them; its bedroom sits at the top of a staircase inside the room. The Loft King is a 31 sq m room on the 6th floor, the top floor, with one bed 178 cm wide. The Standard Semi-Double is a 27 sq m room on the forest side of floors 3 to 5, with one bed 140 cm wide, and co-sleeping is not available in it. The Concept Room is a ship-themed room available to just one booking per day, and neither co-sleeping nor cribs are available in it. In most rooms, one bed can be pushed against the wall, but this is not possible in the King, Deluxe Harbor View Corner Twin and Standard Semi-Double rooms. All rooms are non-smoking, and every room has a humidifying air purifier.
Dining
Breakfast and dinner are served at Restaurant Excelsior on the 1st floor, and room service is not available. The restaurant has children's chairs. All-inclusive plans include the dinner and breakfast buffets plus the Open Lounge, where you can enjoy unlimited drinks, including alcohol, and snacks. Breakfast (6:30 a.m. to 11 a.m., last entry 10:30 a.m.) and dinner (5 p.m. to 9 p.m., last entry 8:30 p.m.) are both buffets, and seats cannot be reserved. Dinner centers on Western dishes such as pasta, pizza and gratin, and meals are free for children who co-sleep. Breakfast-included plans do not include the Open Lounge or the dinner buffet. At the breakfast venue, 5 kinds of baby food are available for babies from about 5 months to about 12 months old. They include cod with pumpkin, corn, shirasu (whitebait) rice porridge, and udon noodles simmered with chicken and vegetables. Just ask the staff; the contents may change depending on supplies and other factors. Allergen charts are available for the breakfast and dinner dishes, but nothing is published about a children's menu or about dishes individually adapted for allergies, so please confirm with the hotel.
Baths
There is no communal bath, private-hire bath or sauna, so bathing with children takes place in your room's bathroom, which has a bathtub and toilet. The hotel's rental items include a bath chair. Photos on Rakuten Travel also show a baby bath, a step stool, a bath board and a non-slip mat as rental items, but these are not on the hotel's own list of rental items, so if you would like to use them, please contact the hotel in advance. Nearby there is a paid onsen facility with an open-air bath, a family bath and ganbanyoku (a heated-stone sauna), open from 4 p.m. to 11:30 p.m.
Family-Friendly Features
Co-sleeping is free for one child per adult through the sixth grade of elementary school, with a maximum of 2 children per room. Co-sleeping is not available in the Concept Room, Standard Semi-Double or Loft Semi-Double. For the Superior View Room, the hotel's information says co-sleeping is limited to 1 child when 3 adults stay, while plans on booking sites allow 1 co-sleeping child per room. Bookings that combine transportation and accommodation are not eligible for free co-sleeping, and on Rakuten Travel's domestic tour packages (Rakupack products), children aged 6 and over cannot co-sleep. Children from age 4 through elementary school who will co-sleep should be booked under the category "Babies and young children: no meals or bedding." On booking-site plans, elementary school children who do not co-sleep, and babies and young children booked with meals and bedding, are charged 100% of the adult rate. Cribs are available free of charge for children from age 0 to under 2, up to 1 per room, and must be requested when booking (not available in the Concept Room). Bed guards are available to borrow free of charge for children aged 1.5 to 5. Nothing is published about baby futons, so please confirm with the hotel. A diaper bin, a kettle for preparing formula and bedwetting sheets are also available to borrow free of charge, and all of them must be requested when booking. Free rental items are limited in number. Children's pajamas are front-opening gowns in 100 cm and 120 cm sizes. They run long and come without pants, so bring your own if you are concerned. There is no childcare service. The drugstore next to the hotel also sells baby goods, though it has regular closing days.
Access
The hotel is about 100 minutes by limited express from Hakata Station and about 90 minutes by rapid train from Nagasaki Station. From Nagasaki Airport, it is about 50 minutes by high-speed boat or about 60 minutes by bus. The Marine Terminal, where the high-speed boat arrives, is about a 2-minute walk from the hotel. From the station, it is a 7-minute walk to the In-Park Hotel Luggage Storage, and from there a free shuttle bus runs to the hotel, with the last departures in the 7 p.m. hour; after that, call and a dedicated car will come to pick you up. Because the hotel is in the Harbor Zone, which has free admission, you do not need a Passport (admission ticket) just to stay. You do need one to enter the Theme Park Zone, and on days when all areas require paid admission, such as the Kyushu Ichi Daihanabi Matsuri (Kyushu's biggest fireworks festival) and the countdown. A free ticket for the guests-only parking lot is issued at the front desk. Check-in is from 3 p.m. to 11 p.m., and checkout is at 11 a.m. If you buy a 1DAY Passport or an After 3 Passport on your first day, you will receive a next-day Passport at the front desk, and this applies to co-sleeping children as well.
