Overview

Hotel East 21 Tokyo (Okura Hotels & Resorts) is a city hotel about a 7-minute walk from Toyocho Station on the Tokyo Metro Tozai Line. Family-friendly rooms include Deluxe Family Rooms and Japanese-style tatami rooms that sleep 2 to 6 guests. Children who have not yet started elementary school stay free when co-sleeping, and cribs and bed guards are available to borrow free of charge (limited numbers, reservation required). The outdoor Garden Pool opens in summer only; the day pool is open to children ages 3 and up, and children of elementary school age and younger must be accompanied by a guardian. The night pool is limited to ages 16 and over.

Rooms

Guest rooms range widely, from the Business Single (15 sq m) to Deluxe Family Rooms (34.5 sq m and 38.0 sq m) and the Japanese-style tatami rooms on the 20th floor (54 sq m). The Twin Room (27 sq m) has two beds 110 cm wide and can accommodate co-sleeping for up to 2 children who have not yet started elementary school, while the Double Room (27 sq m) has one bed 180 cm wide and can accommodate co-sleeping for 1 such child. The Triple Room (27 sq m) for 3 guests adds a 90 cm-wide extra bed to twin beds, and the Fours Room (31 sq m) for 4 guests adds 2 extra beds to twin beds; both can accommodate co-sleeping for up to 2 children under school age. In Semi-Double Rooms, however, co-sleeping for children may be declined because of the bed width. The Deluxe Family Rooms look out toward Tokyo Skytree and have a bathroom of a practical size, making them comfortable for families with young children. Cribs can be set up in some rooms only, and advance reservation is required. There are 2 Japanese-style tatami rooms on the 20th floor, sleeping 2 to 6 guests, and some stay plans include a bathroom with a wooden tub and a separate washing area (limited to eligible plans). Families who want two adjoining rooms can also choose connecting rooms in single-plus-twin or twin-plus-twin combinations.

Pool

The outdoor Garden Pool opens in summer only and, at 2,000 sq m, is one of the largest at any hotel in Tokyo. The day pool is open to children ages 3 and up, and children of elementary school age and younger must be accompanied by a guardian aged 18 or over. Children who need diapers or training pants in daily life cannot enter, even wearing a swim diaper. The night pool is limited to ages 16 and over, so young children cannot use it. The pool inside the members-only health club on the 4th floor is open year-round, but use is limited to ages 18 and over, so young children cannot use it either.

Family-friendly features

Children under school age stay free of charge when co-sleeping. Co-sleeping is limited to one child per main bed, and co-sleeping on an extra bed is not permitted for safety reasons. A crib measuring 670 mm wide, 1,200 mm long and 1,000 mm high is available free of charge for babies under 1 year old; numbers are limited, so please contact the hotel in advance. Bed guards are also available free of charge, but numbers are limited and reservations are taken on a first-come, first-served basis. Children's toothbrushes, slippers (20 cm) and nightwear (85 cm body length, one size only) are available free of charge as well, again in limited numbers on a first-come, first-served basis. Breakfast for children ages 4 to 12 is 1,500 yen. The hotel will discuss food allergies and accommodate them where possible, but the kitchen environment means such accommodation is limited.
