forumWhat families say

Rakuten Travel rating 4.39 out of 5 (1,547 reviews). Guests praise the after-bath ice cream and the yonaki soba (late-night noodle) service as treats that children enjoy too, and some report that the entrance to the women's bath has a PIN-code lock, which helped them feel at ease. On the other hand, some guests report that the rooms, while thoroughly cleaned, felt a little small.

Children's bath bowls and stools (communal bath)

Overview

Natural Hot Spring Yuguri no Yu Dormy Inn PREMIUM Namba is a business hotel a 5-minute walk from Nippombashi and Nagahoribashi stations on the Osaka Metro, with Dotonbori and Shinsaibashi also within walking distance. Every room has a Serta bed, and the room types run from singles for one guest to Japanese-Western rooms that sleep up to 6. The hotel is proud of its natural hot spring communal baths on the second floor, separated for men and women, and of a breakfast featuring seafood rice bowls and a small-plate buffet. Note that children who are not yet out of diapers cannot use the communal bath, and there is no private-hire bath. The Japanese-Western rooms, however, come with a bathtub and toilet, so families with babies can bathe in their own room.

Rooms

Every room has a Serta bed, and the lineup is wide: Single (15 sq m, for 1 guest, bed 1,200 × 1,950 mm), Double (14.7 sq m, for 2 guests, bed 1,400 × 1,950 mm), Queen (18.0 sq m, for 2 guests, bed 1,600 × 1,950 mm), Deluxe Queen (23.0 sq m, for 2 guests, bed 1,600 × 1,950 mm), Twin (27.0 sq m, for 2 guests), Triple (26 sq m, for 3 guests) and Japanese-Western room (27.0 sq m, for 4 guests, beds 900 × 1,950 mm). The Japanese-Western room can combine 2 beds with 2 sets of Japanese futon bedding for up to 6 guests, which suits larger family groups. It is also the one type with a bathtub and toilet in the room, while the other room types have a shower and toilet. Triple rooms have beds only for the adult occupancy, so if your child needs separate bedding, it is best to check in advance.

Dining

Breakfast is served at the restaurant HATAGO on the second floor from 6:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m., with last entry at 9 a.m. It costs 2,500 yen for adults and 1,200 yen for children from age 3 through elementary school, and is free for children ages 2 and under. Local specialties include a seafood rice bowl on which you choose your own toppings, such as tuna, salmon, salmon roe, whitebait and okra, and Ajimeguri Kobachi Yokocho, a spread of about 20 cold and hot small dishes. Because breakfast is buffet-style, the hotel does not create individual allergy-specific menus or prepare dishes with particular ingredients removed.

Baths and Onsen

The second floor has the natural hot spring communal baths Yuguri no Yu, separate for men and women, open from 3 p.m. until 10 a.m. the next morning; only the sauna is closed from 1 a.m. to 5 a.m. Guests with tattoos and guests with a risk of infection are not permitted to bathe, and neither are children who are not yet out of diapers (not yet toilet-trained) or anyone wearing adult diapers. There is no private-hire bath either. Families with children still in diapers should therefore keep in mind that they cannot go into the communal bath together. If you choose a Japanese-Western room with a bathtub and toilet, you can bathe in the room instead. Mixed bathing with children is, in principle, allowed up to age 6.

Family-friendly features

Co-sleeping is limited to 1 child per bed. It is free for ages 0 to 2, while children from age 3 through elementary school are charged 3,000 yen. A room booked for 2 adults can take up to 2 co-sleeping children. Cribs for babies are not available, but children's room wear and children's indoor slippers are among the items lent free of charge. Baby chairs in the restaurant can also be borrowed free of charge, though numbers are limited and requests cannot always be met.

Access

The hotel is a 5-minute walk from Exit 6 of Nippombashi Station on the Osaka Metro Sennichimae Line and a 5-minute walk from Exit 7 of Nagahoribashi Station on the Sakaisuji Line, with Dotonbori and Shinsaibashi within walking distance.
