About Sakura-no-baba Josaien

Sakura-no-baba Josaien is a sightseeing complex at the foot of Kumamoto Castle in Chuo Ward, Kumamoto City, which opened in March 2011. The site used to be the prefectural Kumamoto Castle swimming pool. Inside you will find a general tourist information center, Wakuwakuza (a paid facility where visitors can experience local history and culture), and Sakura-no-Koji, a lane of 23 restaurants and shops selling regional dishes and local specialties. Many visitors also use it as a rest stop before or after walking around Kumamoto Castle. The concept is to share Kumamoto's history and culture and to promote local products.
