Yamaakari is a ryokan in Furuyu Onsen made up of detached rooms, every one of them with its own open-air bath. There are 6 rooms in all, mainly two-room layouts where a Japanese-style tatami room of about 8 tatami mats connects to a bedroom with Japanese-modern beds. Rooms take 2 to 5 guests, with beds for parties of up to 2 and futon bedding from 3 guests. There are child rate categories: dinner for elementary school children is a children's meal, and for preschool-age children it is a kids' meal plate. Every room apart from Mori no Kaori is reached by stairs, so they are not suited to moving around with a stroller.
Rooms
All 6 rooms are detached buildings standing on their own, each with an open-air bath. The main layout is a two-room arrangement in which an 8-tatami Japanese-style tatami room (10 tatami in Kawa no Seseragi only) connects to a bedroom with Japanese-modern beds. Kaze no Sasayaki is laid out with the Japanese-style tatami room and the bedroom separated, and it is more spacious, so it is also recommended for families and groups. Rooms take 2 to 5 guests: beds are provided for parties of up to 2, and futon bedding is used from 3 guests. Mori no Kaori has a flat floor throughout, with a ramp at the entrance, a spacious washbasin area and a bed with no step up to it, so guests using a wheelchair or with weak legs can stay with peace of mind. If you would like to stay in this room with children, however, online booking is not accepted and you need to book directly with the ryokan. Every room other than Mori no Kaori - the rooms with a hinoki cypress open-air bath and those with a ceramic open-air bath - is reached by stairs.

Dinner and breakfast are served in Kamabo Yamazuto, the dining area in the main house. There are child rate categories: when the booking is made at the elementary school rate, dinner is a children's meal, and when it is made at the preschool-age rate, dinner is a kids' meal plate. Baths and Onsen
Every room has its own onsen open-air bath. The in-room baths come in two types, hinoki cypress and ceramic; the ceramic open-air baths are slow to lose the heat of the water. Stairs lead to the in-room open-air baths in every room except Mori no Kaori, and the open-air bath in Mori no Kaori has no handrails. A bathing wheelchair is available on request. The communal bath, Tsuki no Akari, can be used from 6 a.m. to 11 p.m., and the spring water is an alkaline simple spring. Day-use bathing is available at 1,000 yen for adults and 500 yen for children from age 3 through elementary school.
Family-Friendly Features
Every room other than Mori no Kaori is reached by stairs, so the rooms are not suited to moving around with a stroller. The main house with the dining area, the guest rooms and the communal bath all stand as separate buildings, so on rainy days you can get wet underfoot, which may make moving between them inconvenient. Hair dryers and humidifiers are available to borrow. A wheelchair is available to borrow, and there is a barrier-free room. During the summer holiday period, a summer holiday family plan comes with an Onsen Kids Certificate and a gift of either ramune soda or a bubble-blowing set.

The nearest interchange is Saga-Yamato IC, about 15 minutes by car up into the hills. From the Fukuoka and Nagasaki areas it takes about 1.5 hours by car. From Saga Station Bus Center it is about 45 minutes by bus. Parking is free, with space for 10 cars.
