ONCRI
forumWhat families say
Rakuten Travel rating 4.36 out of 5 (722 reviews). Guests note the well-equipped kids' space and the children's loungewear provided, which they feel shows thoughtful consideration for families with children. Some say the wide variety of baths was fun for their children too. On the other hand, some guests found the futon mattresses thin.

Overview
ONCRI is an inn at Furuyu Onsen in Fuji-cho, Saga. At the bathing area SHIORI you can soak in lukewarm water across 15 different tubs in the men's and women's areas combined, and inside the building there is a kids' space with picture books and a slide. Rooms range from 12-tatami-mat Japanese-style tatami rooms to detached rooms with a semi-open-air bath, and children's rates are set according to co-sleeping and, for infants and toddlers, whether meals and bedding are included. The dining areas have chairs for children and for babies and toddlers.
Rooms
The most standard room here is a 12-tatami-mat Japanese-style tatami room (52 sq m, for 1 to 6 guests). The top-grade room, the ONCRI Suite (126 sq m), adds a living room and a twin bedroom to its 12-tatami-mat Japanese-style area and has its own hinoki cypress bath inside. JIBOH, the detached rooms with a semi-open-air bath, are reached by climbing about 40 steps, so they are recommended for guests who can manage stairs on their own. A JIBOH room has only a bedroom and a bathroom, with no living room. The twin-type ONCRI Sono Terrace (25 sq m, for 1 to 3 guests) is arranged as a twin with 2 semi-double beds, with an extra bed as the third bed; its bathroom has a shower room only and no bathtub. All rooms are non-smoking.
Dining
Dinner is served in the tatami dining room Kimi or the large tatami banquet room Hiten, as a Japanese kaiseki course built around Saga ingredients such as Saga beef and Genkai seafood, from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. (last order 9 p.m.). Breakfast is served at the restaurant SEBRI as a Japanese buffet or a set Japanese breakfast, from 7 a.m. to 10 a.m. (last entry 9:30 a.m.). The dining areas have chairs for children and for babies and toddlers. For children, there is a kids' meal course for upper-grade elementary school children and a kids' meal plate for children from lower-grade elementary school age down to preschool age. If there are ingredients you cannot eat because of allergies or religious reasons, dishes prepared with as much consideration as possible can be arranged if you contact the property at least 3 days in advance. Co-sleeping is available for up to 2 children, or up to 6, depending on the plan. Upper- and lower-grade elementary school children pay 50% of the adult rate, and rates for infants and toddlers are tiered according to whether meals and bedding are included.
Baths and Onsen
Furuyu Onsen, also known as Bijin-yu, or the beauty bath, is a celebrated spring long enjoyed for rest and for onsen cures. At the bathing area SHIORI you can enjoy 15 different lukewarm baths across the men's and women's areas, including an open-air bath, a box steam bath, a ceramic tub bath and a reclining bath. The baths in the guest rooms are not fed by the hot spring; only the detached JIBOH rooms have an onsen semi-open-air bath. Day-use bathing costs 1,300 yen for adults and 650 yen for elementary school children, and is free for children who have not yet started elementary school. Guests with tattoos are not permitted to use the communal bath or the other bathing facilities, and will be asked to leave if this comes to light.
