Hi to Osake Oshima

Hi to Osake Oshima, in the atmospheric port town of Habuminato in the south of Izu Oshima, is a whole-house rental - a "sake shop you can stay in" - created from the former sake shop Takabayashi Shoten. The idea behind it is rich island time, spent slowly and without watching the clock.

The accommodation is a detached Japanese-Western room of 35 sq m for 1 to 6 guests. Because you rent the whole house, families with young children can relax with just their own family or close friends, without worrying about other guests. It has a bath and toilet, is non-smoking, and comes with Wi-Fi.

The range of equipment is another draw. Along with the kitchen, cooking utensils and dishes, there is a washing machine, a dryer, a microwave and air conditioning, so you can prepare meals or baby food for your children and do laundry, which keeps even a longer stay comfortable. Shopping for island ingredients and cooking with them is well worth doing.

The bonfire and the open-air bath are the pleasures unique to this place. Talk together as a family while you watch the flames, or take your time in the open-air bath under the stars, for a break from the ordinary that you cannot find in the city. For children, it becomes an island memory they will not forget.

The setting is Habuminato, an atmospheric port town that has featured in films and songs. It is a little way out, about 30 minutes by car from Motomachi Port, but that is exactly what makes it quiet and calm. Spots around the island, such as Mount Mihara and Tsubaki Hana Garden, where you can meet squirrels, are within reach by rental car.
