Hotel Kailani Oshima

Hotel Kailani Oshima, in Sashikiji in the south of Izu Oshima, began as a family business built around the Hawaiian spirit of aloha, a word that expresses kindness and care for others. True to its name, which means "the place where the sea (kai) and the sky (lani) meet," the hotel aims to be somewhere you can make treasured memories with family and friends amid the beautiful nature of Izu Oshima.

The 18 guest rooms are spacious and laid out to suit a wide range of guests. The Makai wing has rooms with two twin beds for couples and small families, giving families with children plenty of room to settle in.

One welcome feature for families is the 10-meter outdoor pool, open in summer only. It offers a different kind of reassurance from the sea, and it is a fine place to play in the water with children. There is also a barbecue service using carefully chosen local meat and vegetables, and outdoor activities such as yoga, so the whole family can be active in the open island air.

The cooking is distinguished by Hawaiian flavors brought to local ingredients. Breakfast is served from 7 a.m. to 9 a.m. and dinner from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., and the restaurant and bar serve dishes where the island and Hawaii come together.

The hotel sits in Sashikiji in the south of the island, about 15 minutes by car from Motomachi Port. Island sights such as Mount Mihara and Tsubaki Hana Garden, where you can meet squirrels, are within reach by rental car.
