A whole villa in Onna Village, yours alone as a family

Grandioso Okinawa Villa Onna 2 is a group of 7 whole-villa rentals (Buildings A through G) standing right by the Onna Village Hall in the central part of Okinawa's main island. Each villa is a two-story 4LDK layout - four rooms plus a living-dining-kitchen area - and sleeps up to 13 people. A three-generation trip, or joining up with a friend's family, still fits into one villa. Because you take the whole building, there is no need to worry about night crying or children running about disturbing the room next door.

One example of the layout has three bedrooms, a shower room and a toilet on the first floor, and a living-dining room, a bedroom, a kitchen, a bathroom and a toilet on the second floor. Buildings B, D and E have a private pool and a BBQ terrace on the first floor. One of the bedrooms in each villa is a Japanese-style tatami room, which works well as a tatami space for putting down a baby at the crawling stage.

From Naha Airport it is about 50 minutes by car via the expressway. There is no airport shuttle, so plan around a rental car. Parking is free, and the number of spaces differs by building: 4 for Buildings A and G, 2 for Buildings B, D and E, and 3 for Buildings C and F.

The gear for traveling with a baby is already here

The villas in Okinawa are equipped with a baby bath, baby soap, a high chair (baby chair), a crib (or playard) and children's tableware. The equipment list for Onna 2 likewise includes a crib (playard), a baby chair and a baby bath, and the body soap among the amenities includes baby soap. Being able to cut your luggage down sharply is a real practical gain when you are traveling with a baby.

That said, no bed guard is provided, and additional requests for baby items are not accepted. If there is something you know you will want, bringing it yourself is the sure route.

The kitchen has cooking utensils, dishes, a microwave, a toaster, a rice cooker, a refrigerator and an electric kettle, and there is also a washing machine (detergent included), a clothes dryer and a vacuum cleaner. These are the facilities that count for more the longer you stay with a child on baby food. Note that seasonings and drinking water are not provided, so bring them along with your groceries.

Pools in only 3 buildings, with no water heating

A private pool comes with only 3 buildings: B, D and E. Book a different building and no pool comes with it.

One more point that matters: the pools at Onna 2 have no water-heating equipment (a heat pump). Heat pumps are limited to Onna 7 (apart from Building H) and Onna 9 under the same brand. The water temperature therefore depends on the outside air temperature, and outside of midsummer it gets too cold for children to stay in for long. If you are booking in winter with the pool in mind, factor this in beforehand. Pool sizes differ by building and are not listed in our information.

The BBQ equipment is free to use. A gas canister, tongs, dishes and cutlery are all provided, so the only things to bring are seasonings and food.

What to know before you stay

No staff are stationed at the villas. Check-in is self-service: from 4 p.m. on the day, you let yourself in using the method sent to you in advance. Checkout is at 10 a.m. Late checkout is not accepted, and past 10 a.m. an extension fee of 1,650 yen per 15 minutes applies. Early check-in depends on availability if you get in touch from 9 a.m. on the day, and 1 p.m. is the earliest possible.

There is no cleaning, towel exchange or extra bedding during your stay. Towels are one set per person, on the assumption that you run the washing machine and dryer. Sending luggage ahead and storing luggage before or after check-in are not available. The interiors are non-smoking, and pets are not allowed. There is no age restriction on staying; a guardian's consent form is required only when every guest is under 18.

The sea is close by. Nabee Beach is about a 14-minute walk (about 900 m). It has everything from marine activities to BBQ, a beach where children and adults alike can play. Nearby, there is Manzamo, a restaurant serving Agu pork shabu-shabu, and a poke specialty shop.

Rates per villa start from 30,000 yen on weekdays in the off-season and from 40,000 yen on weekdays in the high season. Split across the group, that structure makes it easy to keep the cost of a stay down. The Rakuten Travel rating is 4.50 out of 5 (15 reviews).
