Shirahama Onsen Shiraraso Grand Hotel is an onsen ryokan just 30 seconds' walk from Shirarahama Beach, close enough that you reach the swimming beach without crossing a road. Most of its 110 rooms have ocean views, and family-friendly room types include Japanese-Western rooms with beds and connecting rooms that open into two adjoining spaces. Most of the 110 rooms have ocean views, and all are non-smoking. Room types can be chosen to suit the size of your family: a 10-tatami Standard Japanese-style tatami room (35 sq m), a Moderate Japanese-style tatami room with two beds (35 sq m, for up to 3 guests), a 12.5-tatami Superior Japanese-style tatami room (48 sq m), and a Deluxe Japanese-style tatami room with two connected tatami rooms plus twin beds (70 sq m). There are also two connecting room types, both well suited to stays with two or three generations: a connecting Japanese-style option made up of two tatami rooms that can be divided by a door (58 sq m, 3-8 guests), and a connecting Japanese-Western option pairing a tatami room with a Western-style room, also divided by a door (58 sq m, 3-7 guests). Rooms assigned at the hotel's discretion may include Japanese-Western rooms or connecting rooms, so for 3 or more guests a futon or sofa bed may be added. Every room has an air purifier with a humidifying function, which helps during drier times of the year.

Children of elementary school age and older are served kaiseki-style dishes, while children under school age are served a kids' meal. Special-order dishes for children can also be selected. For food allergies, the hotel can change the menu to accommodate the 8 specified allergenic ingredients: egg, milk, wheat, peanut, shrimp, buckwheat, crab and walnut. Baths and Onsen
There are two open-air bathing areas, along with a communal bath: Shiokaze on the sea side, and Matsukaze, an open-air and semi-open-air bath close to the water. The baths in the guest rooms are not onsen; the onsen can only be enjoyed in the communal bath and the private-hire bath. The private-hire bath is for staying guests only, flows directly from the source, and is by reservation only, at 2,200 yen for a 45-minute session. Under Wakayama Prefecture regulations, mixed bathing for children is permitted only up to age 6, so children ages 7 and over use the gender-separated communal baths; families who want to bathe together can choose the private-hire bath instead. There is no sauna or cold plunge bath.

For children who have not yet started elementary school and are co-sleeping, a facility fee of 3,300 yen per child, tax included, applies. If an adult futon is needed, it costs 5,500 yen, tax included, and children under school age who need both a futon and meals are charged 50% of the adult rate.
