The communal bath is an alkaline, free-flowing onsen, and the outdoor pool is available free of charge during summer. There are also semi-private dining areas, and the ryokan is set up with family stays in mind.
Rooms
Kinugawa Plaza Hotel has 159 rooms, ranging from Japanese-style tatami rooms and Western-style rooms to rooms with open-air baths and special rooms. The renovated Japanese-style tatami rooms on the gorge side are 10 tatami mats (jō) in size, have a shower toilet (washlet), and accommodate 2 to 5 guests. Japanese-style tatami rooms with an adjoining room combine a 10-mat main room and a 6-mat anteroom (about 30 square meters) and accommodate 2 to 8 guests. Hotel-assigned rooms, which may be either Japanese-style tatami rooms or Western-style rooms, accommodate 1 to 5 guests. The gorge-side Western-style twin rooms, 10 mats (jō) in size, accommodate 2 to 4 guests; futon bedding is provided for reservations of 2 or more guests. All room types have child rates. The 5 rooms with open-air baths in the “Sui” category reopened after renovation in winter 2025. Previously, they had only a corner tub, but a full bath-and-toilet unit was added so guests can enjoy onsen bathing indoors. The special rooms with open-air baths in the “Sansui Setsugekka” category all face the mountain stream and are two-room suites with hinoki (Japanese cypress) bathtubs.
Dining
Dinner options vary by plan and may include a half buffet or a Japanese set meal in a semi-private dining area, or a buffet in a restaurant in a separate building. The semi-private dining area has seats separated by partitions or roller blinds. Some plans offer in-room dining, but each room type has a guest limit: up to 5 guests in the renovated Japanese-style tatami rooms, up to 3 guests in the rooms with open-air baths in the “Sui” category, up to 4 guests in the special rooms with open-air baths in the “Sansui Setsugekka” category, up to 4 guests in the “Fuwari” corner suite with a view bath, and up to 2 guests in the “Hannari.” Breakfast is a Japanese and Western buffet at the restaurant, with freshly baked bread. Children's meals and bedding are selected by age. Children ages 1 to 3 are listed as requiring “no meal or bedding,” while no application is required for children age 0; children ages 4 and over can be booked under options such as “yōji (preschool child) with meal and bedding.” When children sharing existing bedding and booked without a meal use the buffet area, a separate admission fee may be required depending on the plan, such as JPY 2,200 including tax.

The communal bath is divided into the men’s “Tono no Yu” and women’s “Hime no Yu.” It has indoor baths, an open-air bath and a sauna, and uses a free-flowing, weakly alkaline, hypotonic onsen. Hours are from 2 p.m. to 10 a.m. the following day. There are 2 private-hire baths. “Kito-tei,” a 4-minute walk from the hotel, can be used for 50 minutes, and soap, shampoo and similar products cannot be used in the private-hire baths. The other bath, “Akebi,” is along the Kinugawa Gorge. Its spring water temperature is 38°C, making it somewhat lukewarm, and it is 10 minutes from the hotel by car with a shuttle available.
