A swimming beach spreads out right in front of the ryokan, usually open from around mid-July to late August. Admission is free, and lifeguards are on duty throughout the season. In the summer season only, the private-hire open-air bath Mikage can be used as a changing and shower room after swimming, and a washing machine for swimwear only is also available.

Overview
Kaike Shogetsu is a long-established 19-room ryokan on the shoreline of Kaike Onsen, with a communal bath 27 meters above the ground and 4 private-hire open-air baths. Child rates are set in stages from free for age 0 up to age 12, depending on the child's age and on whether meals and bedding are included, and staying guests can use the private-hire baths free of charge and bathe together as a family. In summer, Kaiyu Beach right in front of the ryokan opens for swimming, and the ryokan notes that a private-hire bath can be used in place of a shower after a swim.
Rooms
The ryokan has 19 rooms in total. In spring 2024, 13 of those 19 rooms were renovated, and 15 rooms now have beds. The sea-facing Japanese-style tatami room with a sea-view open-air bath is 50 sq m and 12.5 tatami mats, for 2 to 6 guests. It has no beds, so guests sleep on futons, and separately from the open-air bath there is an en-suite bathroom for washing. The modern Japanese-style room with a Hollywood twin bed setup and a veranda open-air bath has 2 semi-double beds and sleeps up to 4 guests when 2 futons are added; its open-air bath uses heated water rather than onsen water. The modern Japanese-style room with twin beds and an onsen open-air bath has 2 wide single beds plus 2 futons for 2 to 5 guests, and its open-air bath is genuine onsen drawn from the Kaike hot spring. The largest room, Special Room 401, is over 100 sq m and combines a 12.5-tatami Japanese-style room with twin beds, sleeping 2 to 8 guests. All rooms are non-smoking.
Dining
Depending on the plan you choose, dinner is served either in your room or at the ocean-view dining room Migiwa. Children's rates and meals are set in detail by age: children ages 6 to 12 pay 70% of the adult rate and receive a kids' kaiseki course, while children ages 3 to 12 pay 50% and receive a kids' meal. For children ages 3 to 5 taking meals without bedding, the rate is 7,150 yen, and the meal-only plan without bedding for children who have not yet started elementary school also includes a kids' meal. For infants, ojiya (a savory rice porridge) and udon are prepared, each 440 yen including tax, and children's chairs and Bumbo baby chairs are available at mealtimes. Age 0 is free of charge. Allergies are accommodated on a single-ingredient basis and must be reported at least 3 days before the stay. The ryokan does not handle requests that would substantially change the menu, such as an allergy to fish in general, and does not completely remove egg or wheat flour or remove dairy ingredients; guests with a history of anaphylaxis or who carry an EpiPen cannot be served meals at all. Disliked ingredients are not accommodated either. Breakfast is served only in the dining room, not in guest rooms.

The spring water is a sodium-calcium chloride spring. On the top floor is Umi no Yu, a communal bath and open-air bath with sweeping views of the Sea of Japan, and a separate building set apart from the main ryokan building holds 4 private-hire open-air baths, each with its own character and all fed by natural onsen. The private-hire baths are free of charge for staying guests only, and each use is limited to 45 minutes at one bath. They are stocked with children's washing amenities and chairs so families can bathe together. Because the communal bath swaps between men and women in the evening and the morning, children of elementary school age and older are asked to refrain from using the bath designated for the opposite sex.

Access
The ryokan is about 10 minutes by car from Yonago IC, and parking for 50 cars across from the ryokan is free with no reservation required. The ryokan does not run its own shuttle to JR Yonago Station; a shuttle to the Kaike Onsen Tourist Center is offered instead, with the last run at 6 p.m. For winter driving, equipment such as studless tires is recommended.
