forumWhat families say

Rakuten Travel rating 4.11 out of 5 (2,579 reviews). Families say the live buffet offers a wide selection, including children's favorites such as pizza and carbonara, so adults and children alike enjoyed it. Some reviews also welcome the buffet carts for families with small children and the kids' space. The communal bath is spacious and clean, and guests praise the views from the rooms on the gorge side. On the other hand, some point out that breakfast tends to draw long lines, and others say the food was geared toward adults, so their children did not eat much.

Overview

Jozankei Manseikaku Hotel Milione is a large hotel in Jozankei Onsen. It offers a wide range of room types, from 10-tatami and 12-tatami Japanese-style tatami rooms up to a special room for up to 8 guests, so you can pick a room to fit the size of your family. The buffet restaurant on basement level 1 has a kids' buffet corner and 20 children's chairs, and the 1st floor has a kids' space (a playroom) and a nursing room that is open 24 hours. The men's and women's changing rooms of the communal bath have baby beds and baby bath chairs. Cribs are not available to rent, and baby futons are not provided. The indoor pool is closed from December 1, 2026 to March 25, 2027.

Rooms

The 10-tatami Japanese-style tatami room (up to 5 guests) and the 12-tatami Japanese-style tatami room (up to 6 guests) can have extra futons added for a fee, up to 5 futons in the 10-tatami room and up to 6 in the 12-tatami room. The 12-tatami Japanese Modern room has two twin beds set on the tatami and sleeps up to 5 guests. The Twin Room (28 sq m, up to 3 guests) and the Modern Twin Room (28 sq m, up to 2 guests) have beds measuring 195 cm by 110 cm. There is also a Japanese-Western Connecting Room (a 10-tatami Japanese-style tatami room plus a 28 sq m room, up to 7 guests); its Modern Twin Room side has a shower booth only. The Western-style rooms with an onsen view bath (80 sq m, up to 4 guests, 14 rooms on floors 11 to 13) and the special Japanese-Western room with an onsen view bath (Room 1303, up to 8 guests) have in-room baths filled with onsen water. All other rooms have baths with regular heated water. Note that there are steps both in the public areas of the building and inside the guest rooms.

Dining

Where breakfast and dinner are served depends on your plan. The buffet restaurant on basement level 1 has a kids' buffet corner, along with 4 baby racks, 20 children's chairs and a range of children's tableware. Kuksa, a dining area reserved for guests staying in rooms with an onsen view bath or a view sauna, has private rooms for up to 8 guests and can prepare a kids' plate. Baby food is not provided, but staff will warm baby food you bring and hand it back to you. There are no in-room dining plans, though you can order delivery to your room from Kita no Kuni, the izakaya (Japanese pub). For food allergies, tell the hotel the specific allergens when you book and it will accommodate them as far as possible. Removing ingredients contained in seasonings is difficult, however, and because dishes are cooked in the same kitchen, complete removal is not guaranteed. The deadline for notice is given differently in different places: the hotel's allergy information and Rakuten Travel say up to 5 days before your stay, while the hotel's FAQ says up to 3 days before, so letting the hotel know at least 5 days ahead is the safe choice. If you need a guarantee that allergens are removed, the hotel may decline to serve meals; in that case, you can bring your own food if you tell the hotel in advance.

Baths and Onsen

Bisen, the communal bath on the 3rd floor, has four indoor baths, including a shallow bath for lying down, plus an open-air bath. The spring water is a sodium chloride spring. The hotel's FAQ says there is no age restriction for babies and young children using the communal bath, while cautioning that the floors can be slippery because of the onsen water. Under a Sapporo City ordinance, children aged 7 and over cannot enter the bath for the opposite sex. The men's and women's changing rooms have baby beds, diaper-changing tables, diaper bins and baby bath chairs. If you have concerns about bathing your child, consulting your family doctor is recommended. There is no private-hire bath or family bath, but some guest rooms have an onsen view bath. Dolphin, the indoor pool on the 4th floor, is a straight pool about 20 m long and 100 cm deep, open from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. You can bring pool toys to play with, but swimsuits are not available to rent, and the pool is not connected to the bathing area. The pool is closed from December 1, 2026 to March 25, 2027 for equipment inspection and repair and replacement work.

The hotel's FAQ, however, also states that hot water for making formula is not provided (if you bring your own equipment, the hotel can sterilize it in a microwave or prepare hot water), so for peace of mind, confirm before booking how the formula-preparation machine can be used. Baby-bottle sterilizing, childcare facilities and babysitter arrangements are not available.
