About Tokyo Racecourse
Tokyo Racecourse is a Japan Racing Association (JRA) track in Fuchu, Tokyo, and is also known as Fuchu Racecourse. On the grounds you'll find the JRA Horse Racing Museum and a riding center, along with amusement-park-style attractions and events such as horse-drawn carriage rides, a water play area, and a mini Shinkansen (bullet train) ride. The grandstand offers views of Mt. Fuji, which is how it got its name, the Fuji View Stand. Major races such as the Japan Derby, the Japan Cup, and the Tenno Sho (Autumn) are held here, and its turf course is said to be the largest of the four main tracks.

Travel tips
The racecourse is especially crowded on big race days. If you're visiting with small children, it helps to check the race schedule in advance and see how big the races are before choosing your date. You can also plan to enjoy the rides and events on the grounds separately from the time spent watching the races.
Best season
The racecourse is mostly outdoors, and in one year in February, racing was canceled because of snow. In the base areas, spring and autumn are comfortable seasons for walking outside. Hotel rates rise during holiday weekends and school breaks, so if your dates are flexible, weekdays are a good bet.
Getting there
The nearest station is Fuchu-Keibajo-Seimonmae Station, and a covered pedestrian bridge connects the station to the racecourse.
