About Okadama Airport
Okadama Airport is in Higashi Ward, Sapporo, and shares its airfield with the Japan Ground Self-Defense Force's Okadama Camp. It supplements New Chitose Airport and is mainly used for Hokkaido Air System's flights within Hokkaido, with service to Hakodate, Kushiro, Memanbetsu, Nemuro-Nakashibetsu, Rishiri, Okushiri, Misawa, Akita, and more. Toki Air also flies to Niigata and Nagoya (Chubu). Fuji Dream Airlines flights to Matsumoto, Shizuoka, and Nagoya (Komaki) run only during the summer schedule period. The airport is about 5 minutes by shuttle bus from Sakaemachi Station on the Toho Line of the Sapporo subway, and about 35 minutes from the front of Sapporo Station. The terminal building was completed in 1992, and because passenger numbers exceed its capacity, an expansion is planned.

Because security screening has been tightened, the official website asks passengers to arrive with plenty of time before boarding. Multifunction lockers are available inside the airport. Parking is free for up to 1 hour after entry, so a short drop-off or pickup can keep costs down.
Best season
The airport is close to the Sea of Japan, and in winter northwest winds blow in from the sea. Flights to Matsumoto, Shizuoka, and Nagoya (Komaki) run only during the summer schedule period, so there are more destinations in summer. In 2026, the Sapporo Okadama Airport FESTIVAL was held in February, and a Sky Day (Aviation Day) event was held in September.
Getting there
From Sakaemachi Station on the Toho Line of the Sapporo subway, the airport shuttle bus (Hokuto Kotsu) takes about 5 minutes and costs 350 yen. The regular Chuo Bus route bus takes about 5 minutes and costs 240 yen. From the front of Sapporo Station, the shuttle bus takes about 35 minutes and costs 1,000 yen, but from December 1 to March 31 there is no service to the front of Sapporo Station.

The airport shuttle bus takes about 35 minutes and costs 1,000 yen. A taxi takes about 20 minutes and costs roughly 3,000 yen. However, during the winter period from December 1 to March 31, the shuttle bus does not run to the front of Sapporo Station.
Can I get there by bus from New Chitose Airport?

There is no shuttle bus or similar service connecting Okadama Airport and New Chitose Airport. The official website also says so, so you will need to travel via central Sapporo.
