Travel tips
Local buses run from Atami Station to the port, and the Atami Port bus stop is right in front of the ferry terminal. The area around the station has many hills, and pushing a stroller can be more tiring than you might expect, so a bus or taxi makes things easier. The sun can be strong by the sea, so in summer be sure to bring hats and sun protection for your children.
Best season
In summer, Atami is a great choice for families, with swimming and beach play at Atami Sun Beach and the Atami Kaijo Fireworks Festival. Spring and fall, outside the beach season, have mild weather and make getting around with a stroller easier. Fireworks festivals are held several times depending on the time of year, so it is a good idea to check the dates when planning your trip.
