Yunoyama Onsen Ryokan Kotobuki-Tei is a long-established ryokan founded in the Meiji era, with the Suiunkaku pavilion, a Registered Tangible Cultural Property, and a Japanese garden. All 35 rooms are Japanese-style tatami rooms, which makes them easy to spend time in with a baby at the crawling stage, and dinner is normally served in your room. There are 6 private-hire baths, each with its own character, and among them the stone-built Shosen has a baby bed, along with a baby chair and baby soap. Inside the ryokan there is a kids' corner with toys and picture books. At breakfast there is no set breakfast tray for children under school age, so they take their food from the Kids Corner set up within the half-buffet.
Rooms
All 35 guest rooms are Japanese-style tatami rooms, laid out with 10 Kyoto-size tatami mats plus an entry area, and 3 of the rooms have 8 tatami mats. Because they are tatami-floored, they are easy to spend time in with a baby at the crawling stage. Rooms sleep from 1 to 5 guests, which suits families well. The Kutsurogi Japanese-style room, which has no view, has 10 tatami mats plus a 2-tatami entry area and is priced lower than the other rooms. The Standard Japanese-style room has 8 to 10 tatami mats plus a 2-tatami entry area, and some of these rooms have no bath. On the upper floors, the View Japanese-style room is 21 sq m with 10 tatami mats plus a 2-tatami entry area, and the Special Japanese-style room has 10 tatami mats plus a 4-tatami entry area, with an indoor onsen bath and a massage chair. Two rooms have a family bath fed by the onsen. Some rooms have a hinoki cypress bath or a Western-style tub, but those indoor baths are not fed by the hot spring. Since May 2020 all guest rooms are non-smoking, and smokers use the smoking area on the 3rd floor. A humidifier is available to borrow.

Dinner is normally served in your room, though for parties of 4 adults or more it may be served in a private dining room. Elementary school children are served the Elementary School Set, which follows the adult menu, and on some plans they are served the same dishes as adults and pay the same accommodation rate as adults. If you would prefer a kids' meal instead, note it in the requests field and it will be arranged at no change to your accommodation rate. Last orders for dinner are at 8 p.m. Breakfast is served in the dining area as a set breakfast tray with a half-buffet. The spring water is a simple onsen (a hypotonic, weakly alkaline, low-temperature spring). This alkaline radium spring is known as the "beauty bath." There are 2 communal baths and 2 open-air baths. Six private-hire baths, each with its own character, can be booked for 60 minutes at a time for 4,400 to 6,050 yen, reserved at the front desk on the day. Advance reservations by phone or email are not accepted, so booking at check-in is recommended. The stone-built Rinsenkaku holds three of them, Bojo, Shosen and Hozan, and of these Shosen has a baby bed, along with a baby chair and baby soap. Tsurukame in Keiseikaku has both a spacious tub and a spacious changing area, with a raised tatami corner as well. Apart from the 2 rooms with an onsen family bath, in-room baths are not fed by the hot spring. Whether children who are not yet out of diapers may enter the tubs in the communal bath is not stated, so please confirm with the ryokan.

Co-sleeping is available for up to 3 children. Elementary school children, in both younger and older grades, are charged 70% of the adult rate, and on some plans they pay the same rate as an adult. For infants and toddlers the rate categories are 8,250 yen with meals and bedding, 4,400 yen with bedding but no meals, 6,050 yen with meals but no bedding, and 2,200 yen with neither meals nor bedding, though depending on the plan some of these categories cannot be accepted. Children under school age aged 0 and over taking neither meals nor futon bedding pay a facility usage fee of 2,200 yen, which includes the breakfast buffet. Adults pay a separate bathing tax of 150 yen. Inside the ryokan there is a kids' corner with toys and picture books. The ryokan advises that it is not fully barrier-free, and the tubs in the communal baths have handrails.
Access
About 10 minutes from Komono IC on the Shin-Meishin Expressway, and about 25 minutes from Yokkaichi IC on the Higashi-Meihan Expressway. There is free parking for 40 cars, and an attendant will guide you in. A free shuttle runs from Yunoyama Onsen Station on the Kintetsu Yunoyama Line, taking about 10 minutes; call on the day to arrange it. Check-in is from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. and checkout is at 10 a.m. (the latest check-in time varies by plan). The Gozaisho Ropeway is a 5-minute walk away, and Nagashima Spa Land and the Anpanman Museum are about 30 minutes by car.
