Overview
Ureshino Onsen Ryokan Yoshidaya is a modern Japanese-style onsen ryokan standing along the Ureshino River. Guests can enjoy Ureshino Onsen, counted as one of Japan's three great beautiful-skin hot springs, in a wide range of baths, including the communal baths, open-air baths and private-hire baths. Children can stay, a facility fee applies from infancy, and elementary school children are served their own menu. Note, however, that the detached annex is limited to guests of junior high school age and up, and the building has no elevator, so stairs are unavoidable - it pays to choose your room type carefully.
Rooms
The ryokan has 21 Japanese-Western rooms, and many of them come with an onsen bath fed directly from the source. The Premium Japanese-Western Room with Onsen, Aoi, is featured in the Michelin Guide Fukuoka & Saga; it measures 85 sq m, accommodates 1 to 6 guests, and has a children's rate. For stays of 3 or more guests, many rooms have futon bedding laid out in advance, so they can also accommodate family stays. There are compact room types as well, such as the 20 sq m Japanese-Western Standard Twin with two single beds. The two-story detached annex, the High-Grade Japanese-Western Room with Onsen, Orikara (70 sq m, 1 to 4 guests), accepts children only from junior high school age and up, so families with young children cannot use it. There is no elevator in the building, and the main building's rooms are on the 2nd and 3rd floors, so stairs are unavoidable. Getting around with a stroller is difficult, so it is best to plan on carrying children up and down.
Dining
Dinner is a kaiseki course (a multi-course Japanese meal) built around Saga-raised wagyu beef, local fish and local vegetables, served at table seating in the non-smoking dining area. You may request a semi-private room when booking, but requests are filled on a first-come basis and cannot be guaranteed. Breakfast is a Japanese-style meal featuring onsen yudofu (tofu simmered in hot spring water), local fish and local eggs. Elementary school children are served a kids' meal; if you would like to change this to the same kaiseki course as the adults or to the children's mini-kaiseki course, please contact the ryokan in advance. From age 0, a facility fee of 2,000 yen before tax applies. Individual changes to dishes, including for allergies, cannot be accommodated, and the approach is for those seated together to share portions; guests who book directly with the ryokan, however, may be able to discuss what can be done within reason.
