An exclusive-use machiya on the bank of the Miyagawa River, limited to 1 group per day. Across 111 sq m, it has 2 bedrooms (one king bed and 3 sets of futon bedding), 2 bathrooms and 2 toilets, sleeping up to 4 guests. The kitchen has an induction cooktop and cooking utensils, so you can cook for yourselves. It is a room type where families and groups can experience machiya living entirely on their own.

The main building has 2 types of private-hire bath: a bright hinoki bath surrounded by Hida-grown hinoki with a view of a courtyard garden, and a bath with the feel of a cave. These are heated baths, not onsen.

This is a designer machiya hotel created by renovating a townhouse close to the old streets of Hida-Takayama and to Takayama Station. Characterful machiya features such as the pillars have been kept while modern design has been added, and facilities including the bathrooms have been completely renewed. They include THE MACHIYA HANARE, an exclusive-use machiya on the bank of the Miyagawa River limited to 1 group per day (111 sq m, up to 4 guests, with a kitchen); courtyard-garden deluxe suites and deluxe loft rooms with a hinoki bath; the MACHIYA room, with a Japanese feel; a superior twin; a classic king room; and connecting rooms made by joining 2 rooms. Every room is decorated with art featuring Seigaiha, a traditional Japanese auspicious wave pattern. Children can stay from age 0, and up to 2 children aged 5 and under can co-sleep free of charge; children aged 6 and over count toward the number of guests.
Baths and Onsen
■2 private-hire baths (for a fee) Alongside the bathrooms in the guest rooms, the main building has 2 types of private-hire bath. One is a bright hinoki bath surrounded by Hida-grown hinoki, looking out on the greenery of a courtyard garden; the other has the feel of a cave, calling to mind the Hida Great Limestone Cave. Hinoki-scented hinoki balls float in the tubs. Use is by reservation, 60 minutes per group, at 2,000 yen per person including tax. Amenities and beauty appliances from the Gifu cosmetics brand meet tree are also available. Please note that children under school age cannot use the private-hire baths. These are heated baths, not onsen.
