Overview
Hirayu Prince Hotel is a 29-room ryokan in Hirayu Onsen, part of the Okuhida Onsengo hot-spring villages in Takayama, Gifu. It draws on three types of spring water and has five baths that are free to use around the clock. Of the three private-hire open-air baths in the annex, the two larger ones are big enough for adults and children to swim in. Dinner centers on Hida beef grilled on a ceramic plate and river-fish dishes, and several plans set a child rate. A barrier-free room suitable for wheelchair users is available as well.
Rooms
Room types include a 10-tatami Japanese-style tatami room for 1 to 4 guests, a 12.5-tatami Japanese-style tatami room in the annex where the private-hire baths are, and a 12-tatami Japanese-Western room with two semi-double beds and a tatami area. Depending on the plan, the 12.5-tatami room in the annex can be used by 2 to 6 guests, and a child rate is set for it. The 12-tatami Japanese-Western room sleeps 2. All rooms are non-smoking.
Dining
Breakfast and dinner are both served in the dining area. Dinner is a kaiseki meal centered on Hida beef grilled on a ceramic plate and river-fish dishes, with generous portions. Depending on the plan, you can also choose dinner only, breakfast only, or a room-only stay with no meals.
Baths and Onsen
The hot spring water is drawn from three types of spring: a bicarbonate spring, a sodium-calcium chloride spring, and a simple hydrogen sulfide spring. The main building has communal baths separated for men and women, with an indoor bath and an open-air bath, and the annex has three private-hire open-air baths. All five of these baths are free to use 24 hours a day, and the two larger private-hire baths are big enough for adults and children to swim in. There are no amenities in the changing rooms of the private-hire baths, so you need to bring towels and bath towels from your room. A bathing tax of 150 yen per person per night applies separately.
