These are the outdoor pools at the neighboring Grand Prince Hotel Shin Takanawa: the Diamond Pool in the Japanese garden and the Sky Pool on the 2nd floor of that hotel's guest-room wing, and there is a children's pool as well. They are open from July 17, 2026 to August 30, 2026. Guests of Takanawa Hanakohro can use them free of charge. Children aged 12 and under must be accompanied by a guardian, and the night pool is for children aged 4 and over who have finished toilet training.

Takanawa Hanakohro is a 16-room ryokan of Japanese-style tatami rooms inside the Grand Prince Hotel Takanawa, about a 5-minute walk from the Takanawa exit of JR Shinagawa Station. The rooms have traditional Japanese furnishings, two low beds 120 cm wide, and a bathroom where the bathtub is separate from the washing area. Breakfast can be enjoyed in the exclusive lounge Ousai or in your room. Co-sleeping is available for children up to age 5, and rates for babies and preschool-age children depend on whether meals and bedding are included. There is no communal bath or private-hire bath, but in summer guests can use the outdoor pool at the neighboring Grand Prince Hotel Shin Takanawa free of charge.
Rooms
All 16 rooms are Japanese-style tatami rooms, in five types: the Japanese-style Suite (50.1 sq m, for 1-2 guests), the Japanese-style Deluxe Suite (62.3 sq m, for 1-4 guests), the Japanese-style Garden Suite (59.9-61.0 sq m, for 2-3 guests), the Japanese-style Garden Premier Suite (67.2 sq m, for 1-2 guests) and the Hanakohro Suite (100.8 sq m, for 4 guests). Each room has two beds measuring 120 cm wide, 203 cm long and 40 cm high, and in every room the two beds are placed together. Traditional Japanese furnishings are combined with low beds and sofas, and the bathroom has the bathtub separate from the washing area. The bathroom in the Hanakohro Suite has tubs of hinoki cypress and Towada stone.
Dining
Breakfast is a Japanese set meal served from 7 a.m. to 10 a.m., and you can choose to have it either in the lounge Ousai on the 4th floor or in your room. It comes with grilled fish, Japanese side dishes, rice with rice porridge also available, miso soup and fruit. Food allergy accommodation at the restaurants covers only 8 items - shrimp, crab, walnut, wheat, buckwheat, egg, milk and peanut - and guests who would like it must say so in advance. In-room dining is also available.
Baths
The guest-room bath is Japanese in style, with the bathtub separate from the washing area, and comes with a wooden bath stool and washing bowl. The Hanakohro Suite has tubs of hinoki cypress and Towada stone. There is no onsen, communal bath or private-hire bath on the property.
Family-friendly features
Co-sleeping is available for children up to age 5, with no guest benefits or meals included, and up to one child per bed. Room amenities such as towels are prepared for the number of guests in the booking and do not include co-sleeping children, so please ask for them when booking or on arrival. As for children's rates, elementary school children pay 100% of the adult rate, and so do babies and preschool-age children with meals and bedding. Babies and preschool-age children with bedding but no meals, and those with meals but no bedding, cannot be accommodated, while those who need neither meals nor bedding stay free of charge. In the exclusive lounge Ousai, guests under junior high school age are asked to refrain from using it after 5 p.m., and cocktail time and the nightcap service are for guests aged 13 and over. Guests of Hanakohro can also use the outdoor pool at the neighboring Grand Prince Hotel Shin Takanawa free of charge; children aged 12 and under must be accompanied by a guardian, and the night pool is open to children aged 4 and over who have finished toilet training (the Sky Pool has no toddler pool). The fitness gym is limited to guests aged 16 and over. Babysitting is not available.
Access
The ryokan is about a 5-minute walk from the Takanawa exit of Shinagawa Station, served by the Shinkansen, JR lines and the Keikyu Line, and about a 3-minute walk from Takanawadai Station on the Toei Subway Asakusa Line. A free shuttle bus runs from in front of the Main Tower between 8 a.m. and 9:20 p.m., at intervals of about 20 minutes. Parking has 1,000 spaces; hotel guests pay 1,500 yen per car per night, and advance reservations are not accepted.
