Suginoi Hotel in Beppu Onsen is a hot-spring resort with three guest-room buildings - Sora-kan, Hoshi-kan and Niji-kan - along with the panoramic open-air bath Tanayu, the outdoor onsen Aqua Garden, which guests enter in a swimsuit, and the summer-only pool Aqua Beat. Children are charged from age 3, and infant plans with co-sleeping or without meals and bedding can also be chosen. Rooms
Niji-kan is a guest-room building designed with families in mind, including twin rooms described as ideal for groups of friends or families with young children. The Casual Twin Room sleeps 1 to 3 guests. The Casual Loft Room combines an upper bunk with a lower day bed and sleeps 2 to 4 guests; when 3 or more guests use it, guests make up the lower day bed themselves. The Casual Skip Room has two bunk beds and sleeps up to 4. In Niji-kan, the Casual Twin, Casual Double, Casual Loft and Casual Skip rooms have a shower booth rather than a bathtub; only the Universal Room, which has an accessible design, has a bathtub. Sora-kan has the Miki House Room, created in collaboration with Miki House, with a wall-mounted toy play wall, picture books, a toilet-training seat, a diaper trash bin and a step stool for the washbasin. Dining
Meals are served at three buffet restaurants: TERRACE & DINING SORA in Sora-kan, Wa Dining HOSHI in Hoshi-kan, and Ceda Palace, known for its huge aquarium. The buffets center on Western and Chinese dishes and include stone-oven pizza, kids' menu items and desserts. All three restaurants stock commercially prepared baby food for ages 5, 7, 9 and 12 months, and food you bring yourself can be warmed in a microwave if you ask a staff member. The private-room yakiniku plan also includes set menus for elementary school children and for children under school age (ages 3 to 6). The regular buffets are cooked in the same kitchen with the same equipment, so no allergy-specific menus or allergen labeling are provided. At the Japanese kaiseki restaurant Wa Ryori Sai, you can choose the Fuku Kaiseki course, which avoids the eight specified major allergens; it is offered as an adult menu only. If anyone in your party has an allergy, we recommend confirming in advance.
Baths and Onsen
The panoramic open-air bath Tanayu, with five tiers of tubs spread out like terraced rice fields, has its usage fee included in the room rate, so guests can use it throughout their stay without paying extra. The same applies to Aqua Garden, the outdoor onsen you enter in a swimsuit, though children who are not yet out of diapers must wear swim pants. Sorayu, on the top floor of Sora-kan, may be used only by guests staying in Sora-kan and guests in certain Hoshi-kan rooms. Children may be brought into a bath of the opposite sex only up to age 6. There is also Oita Goyu, a set of five private-hire baths that draw on the nature and culture of Oita and Beppu - ideal when you want to soak in the onsen as a family alone.
