Namari Onsen Fujisan Ryokan Bettei Kokoro no Toki Jusangatsu is an all-suite onsen ryokan with 14 rooms, renovated in 2015 as the annex of Fujisan Ryokan at Namari Onsen. Every room is 60 sq m or more and has an open-air bath supplied with 100% onsen water flowing straight from the source, with views over the clear waters of the Toyosawa River. Children who have not yet started elementary school are not accepted, and elementary school students and older pay the adult rate on a one-night, two-meal plan. Guests can enjoy a kaiseki dinner and also use the four baths at the neighboring Fujisan Ryokan.
Rooms
All 14 rooms are suites of 60 sq m or more, each with an open-air bath of its own individual design, supplied with 100% onsen water flowing straight from the source. The beds are made by Sealy, and the rooms are laid out to look out over the clear waters of the Toyosawa River. Room types include Modern Twin and Modern Double, as well as Japanese-Western rooms for 2 to 4 guests, which suit parties of several people. Some room types also have a mist sauna or an in-room jacuzzi bath.
Dining
Dinner is a kaiseki course (a seasonal multi-course Japanese meal) served at the dining room Bon KARMA, built around Iwate beef kawarayaki (grilled on a roof tile). It is served from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., with last orders at 7 p.m. If you have ingredients you would rather avoid or a food allergy, the ryokan can accommodate this if you let them know when booking.
Baths and Onsen
Every guest room has an open-air bath with 100% onsen water flowing straight from the source, never heated, diluted or recirculated, so each room has its own onsen entirely to itself. Guests can also use the four baths at the neighboring Fujisan Ryokan: Shirozaru no Yu, Katsura no Yu, Shiraito no Yu and Gin no Yu. Shirozaru no Yu, said to be the deepest in Japan, is a standing bath 1.25 meters deep and is mixed-gender (women-only during certain hours), so take care when bathing there with children. The private-hire bath Gin no Yu can be booked from 3 p.m. to 9 p.m. for a fee of 1,100 yen per hour, and it has barrier-free touches such as underfloor heating in the changing room.
Family-friendly notes
Children under school age are not accepted, and babies and toddlers cannot be accommodated at all, whether or not meals and bedding are included. The children's rate for elementary school students is 100% of the adult rate for both lower and upper grades, so on a one-night, two-meal plan it comes to the same as an adult. For children of elementary school age and above, families can bathe together privately using their room's open-air bath or the reservation-only private-hire bath Gin no Yu. Ingredients your family would rather avoid, as well as food allergies, can also be accommodated if you let the ryokan know when booking. All rooms are non-smoking, and smoking is limited to the smoking corner at the footbath area.
Access
Free shuttle buses run from Shin-Hanamaki Station and Hanamaki Station, departing Shin-Hanamaki Station at 3:10 p.m., 4:10 p.m. and 5:10 p.m., and Hanamaki Station at 3:25 p.m., 4:25 p.m. and 5:25 p.m. On the return there is one bus, leaving the ryokan at 9:47 a.m. and arriving at Hanamaki Station at 10:30 a.m. and Shin-Hanamaki Station at 10:45 a.m. By car, it is about 20 minutes from Hanamaki-minami IC, about 25 minutes from Hanamaki Station and about 35 minutes from Shin-Hanamaki Station. There are 14 parking spaces, free for staying guests with no reservation required.
