Overview
Munbu Stay Sonai opened in 2023 in the Sonai district, the largest settlement on Yonaguni Island. Rooms are mainly twin-bed rooms, and some have no shower in the room, using the shared shower and toilet in the management building instead. It is about 5 minutes by car from Yonaguni Airport, and free shuttle service is offered at all of the group's properties. Breakfast is provided as a takeout package, so you can take it back to your room or onto the plane. Accommodation plans include children's rates, and some dinner-inclusive plans, such as the plan with Agu pork shabu-shabu, are served at Munbu Terrace in front of the airport.
Rooms
Guest rooms are mainly twin-bed rooms. Rooms 201 and 202 have no shower room inside, so guests use the shared shower in the management building, along with the shared toilet there. Room 201 has partitions between the spaces. Room 203 also uses the shared toilet in the management building. The Wide Twin listed on the accommodation plans is 17.5 square meters with a shower, built as a stand-alone unit that keeps your space private. The Economy Twin is a compact 16-square-meter stand-alone unit with no bath or toilet. Bathing supplies are provided at the shared shower.
Dining
Breakfast is picked up at the reception building each morning between 8 a.m. and 10 a.m. To have it, you need to book a plan that includes breakfast, or else request it through the separate application form or by telling a staff member at check-in. Okinawan standards such as pork-and-egg onigiri (rice balls) come in three generous flavors, and because they are packaged for takeout you can bring them back to your room or onto the plane. Dinner on the plan with Agu pork shabu-shabu is served at Yonaguni Munbu Terrace in front of Yonaguni Airport. It requires an advance reservation by phone or through the reservation form; a shuttle leaves Sonai at 7:30 p.m. and dinner begins at 8 p.m., which is close to bedtime for families with young children.
Family-Friendly Features
Accommodation plans include children's rates. Some plans come with an island sightseeing tour or a night tour, and children can join either from age 3. Because breakfast is packaged for takeout and can be brought back to the room, it is also easier to eat at an unhurried pace with a young child.
Access

Free shuttle service runs at all of the group's properties, arranged to match flight arrival times from 3 p.m., when check-in begins. If you are not using the shuttle or the advance check-in, you complete check-in at the reception building of Munbu Terrace in front of the airport. Checkout requires no stop at the front desk: simply leave your room key inside the room when you go. There is no convenience store or supermarket nearby, and the closest shop, Masae Shoten, is a 10-minute walk away, so it is wise to get anything you need before you arrive. If your flight or ferry is canceled due to bad weather, no cancellation fee is charged, and you can extend your stay as long as no other booking has come in.
