Kirishima Bijin no Yu Yuyuan is an inn at Hinatayama Onsen in Hayato-cho, Kirishima. Accommodation comes in three types - main-building rooms, two-story detached cottages and single-story detached cottages - and every room has an open-air bath with water flowing straight from the source. The two-story cottages have stairs, so families with young children are pointed toward the single-story cottages. Children who have not yet started elementary school can co-sleep, and there are kids' meals for elementary school children and for children under school age. It is about 15 minutes by car from Kagoshima Airport IC.
Rooms
The main-building rooms are on the third floor and come in two types: a Japanese-style tatami room (10 tatami mats, with one double bed) and a Japanese-Western room (15 tatami mats, with two semi-double beds). Both have an open-air bath on the terrace, with water flowing straight from the source. Guests in the main-building rooms can also choose a plan with in-room dining for dinner. The two-story detached cottages are five buildings named Sho, Raku, Kosumosu, Shobu and Suzuran, laid out over two levels with a Japanese-style tatami room downstairs and a bedroom upstairs. Because they have stairs, young children and anyone who finds stairs difficult are pointed toward the single-story cottages instead. The single-story cottages come as Type A1 and Type A2 (about 48.44 sq m, with a 6-tatami Japanese-style room and a bedroom in two connecting spaces, for 2 to 4 guests) and Type B (about 43.06 sq m, with a 4.5-tatami Japanese-style room and a bedroom, for 1 to 3 guests), each with its own open-air bath. For stays of 3 or more guests, futon bedding is used. The inn has 19 guest rooms in total.

For dinner you can choose a seasonal kaiseki course or a Berkshire pork shabu-shabu kaiseki course, served in the semi-private dining area on the second floor of the main building, or as in-room dining for an additional charge, which is available only to guests in the main-building rooms. For children there is a kids' kaiseki course for elementary school children and a kids' meal for children under school age, along with children's chairs and tableware. Meals cannot be prepared for young children with severe food allergies. Baths and Onsen
The spring water the inn takes pride in is a bicarbonate spring known as Bijin no Yu, the beauty bath: colorless, clear, odorless and gentle on the skin. It is described as suitable for people with sensitive skin, for pregnant guests and even for babies. Along with the open-air bath in every room, staying guests can use the communal bath free of charge, and there are also private-hire baths (11 rooms in all, for a fee) that families or friends can have to themselves. Guests under 18 cannot use these private-hire baths on their own; a guardian must accompany them. There is no sauna.
Family-Friendly Features
Children under school age (ages 0 to 5) can co-sleep, and when no meals or futon bedding are needed the facility fee is 1,650 yen. Co-sleeping is limited to one child per adult. Elementary school children (ages 6 to 12) pay 70% of the adult rate, with meals and futon bedding included. Cribs and bed guards are not available to borrow, but beds can be moved against the wall if you ask in advance. Pregnant guests can bathe in the onsen. The inn has only one wheelchair to lend, and there are no barrier-free rooms or toilets; while there is a ramp at the entrance, there are large steps at the raised room thresholds and at the baths.

The inn is about 15 minutes by car from Kagoshima Airport IC and about 10 minutes by taxi from JR Hayato Station. There is outdoor parking for 30 cars at no charge, without a roof, and a Lawson and a FamilyMart are a 5-minute walk away. A pediatric clinic, Ikari Kodomo Clinic, is about 5 minutes away by car.
