Kawagoe Prince Hotel

forumWhat families say

Rakuten Travel rating 4.15 out of 5 (1,766 reviews). Families traveling with babies report being given a private breakfast room, and guests with a 2-year-old say staff at the front desk and in the breakfast venue looked after them well, so they could relax. Guests also praise the location, connected directly to the station. On the other hand, some guests were surprised by the step between the bathroom and the room, so families with small children may want to watch their footing.

Overview

Kawagoe Prince Hotel is directly connected to Hon-Kawagoe Station on the Seibu Shinjuku Line, a convenient base for sightseeing in Koedo (Little Edo) Kawagoe and its kurazukuri warehouse-style streets. Rooms range from a 19 sq m double room to a 50 sq m Japanese-style tatami room, and a crib can be arranged in rooms of 24 sq m or larger. Children up to age 5 can stay with co-sleeping, and the Japanese and Chinese restaurants both offer children's menus. There is no communal bath or onsen, so bathing is normally done in the room's en-suite bathroom.

Rooms

Guest rooms come in several types, from Double Room C (19 sq m) to a Japanese-style tatami room (50 sq m). Twin Room B (27 sq m) and Double Room A (27 sq m) have a sofa bed that serves as an extra bed, so they can take up to 3 guests. Twin Room C (24 sq m) and Double Room B (24 sq m) hold 2 guests, but because they are 24 sq m or larger, a crib can be arranged in them. The Japanese-style tatami room (50 sq m, with a 12-tatami living area) sleeps up to 5 guests with futon bedding for 5, which suits family stays well. Cribs can be arranged in rooms of 24 sq m or larger and are lent only for children who have not yet begun pulling themselves up to stand. Children up to age 5 can stay with co-sleeping.

Dining

Breakfast is served at the buffet restaurant Etoile on the 9th floor from 6:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m., with last orders at 9 a.m. The menu draws on local ingredients, with dishes such as an umaki-style omelet made with Kawagoe's famous eel (umaki is eel rolled in egg) and Sayama-cha udon, noodles kneaded with tea leaves grown locally in Sayama. On breakfast-inclusive plans, breakfast for children from age 4 up to those who have not yet started elementary school costs 1,000 yen, with the service charge extra. At dinner, staying guests can order preferential menus: a Kids Meal Set at the Japanese restaurant Musashino (2,500 yen per child) and a children's menu at the Chinese restaurant Kokiden (2,500 yen per child). Meals that accommodate food allergies can also be prepared; please confirm what can be arranged when you book.

Baths

Every guest room has an en-suite bathroom, and the hotel describes the one in the Japanese-style tatami room as ideal for families and groups. There is no onsen, communal bath or private-hire bath, so families normally bathe in their room's en-suite bathroom.

Family-friendly features

Guest rooms are equipped with a diaper bin for children. In summer, a lobby event for staying guests only lets children of elementary school age and under enjoy a bouncy-ball scooping game and receive a Ramune soda. From June 15 to September 30, 2026, a limited-time plan is also available under which one child of elementary school age or younger stays free of charge, up to one child per room, when sharing a room with an adult.
