Overview
Yuze Hotel stands at Yuze Onsen in Kazuno, Akita, one of Japan's three great bijin-no-yu (beauty) hot springs. Along with a communal bath and an open-air bath filled with alkaline simple onsen water flowing straight from the source, there is a private-hire family bath that can be booked in 45-minute slots. Children's rates apply to children of elementary school age and under and are tiered: 70% of the adult rate with meals and bedding equivalent to an adult's, and 50% with children's meals and bedding. Dinner and breakfast center on a buffet of Akita regional cuisine, and children's yukata are available at the corner beside the front desk.
Rooms
The Main Building and Annex offer a wide range of rooms, including Japanese-style tatami rooms, Japanese-Western rooms and twin rooms, with some designed for family use. The Japanese-bed type, which has two beds in the room, also has a generous 8-mat tatami area, giving families room to spread out. The 10-tatami Japanese-style tatami rooms are likewise presented as rooms for families and groups. The upper-floor Japanese-bed rooms and the Japanese-bed rooms facing the mountain stream have two regular beds plus two futons, so children can sleep on futon bedding if you prefer. Futons in Japanese-style tatami rooms are normally laid out before check-in; if you would like them laid out during dinner instead, contact the hotel by 8 p.m. on the day before your stay. On the other hand, the mountain-side Junior Suite added in 2026 and Main Building special rooms 351 and 352 cannot be used by children of elementary school age and under, and the Premium View rooms on the 11th floor of the Main Building are on a floor reserved for guests aged 13 and over, so these rooms are not suited to stays with children.
Dining
Dinner and breakfast are usually a buffet of more than 35 dishes centered on Akita regional cuisine, though this may change to a set Japanese meal served on a tray depending on how busy the hotel is that day. Since the lineup is centered on Japanese food, note that it is not a menu combining Japanese, Western and Chinese dishes. Meals are served in the dining venue rather than in private rooms. As a guide, dinner runs from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on quieter days and from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. on busy days, while breakfast runs from 7:30 a.m. to 8:45 a.m. on quieter days and from 7 a.m. to 9:15 a.m. on busy days. Meals accommodating allergies can also be arranged.
Baths and Onsen
There are communal baths - Bijin no Yu for women and Sennin no Yu for men - as well as an open-air bath overlooking the mountain stream, and the spring water is an alkaline simple onsen. Both the men's and women's communal baths have a hot tub (42.5-44.0 °C) and a warm tub (37-40 °C), so you can choose the water temperature. Meiso Mori no Yu, which opened in 2024, is designated for adults so it can be enjoyed quietly, and guests under 18 cannot use it. If you would like to bathe together without worrying about how many of you there are, there is also a private-hire bath booked in 45-minute slots, which staying guests can use for 1,500 yen per bathroom per slot, tax included. Note that the private-hire bath has no showers or taps and no shampoo or conditioner, so you will need to use the communal bath if you want them.
