The baths are household-sized and the water is changed for each use. In some of the 10-to-12-tatami smoking rooms the in-room bath has no shower, only a tub faucet. There are also room types with no bath (a toilet is provided).

Yugawara Onsen Seiransou is a Japanese-style ryokan in Oku-Yugawara that will soon mark 100 years since it was founded. All 41 rooms are Japanese-style tatami rooms, with roomy family-friendly layouts such as 12.5-tatami and 12-tatami rooms, and some rooms have an indoor onsen bath. A playroom is open to guests, and the dining area has children's chairs and portable bassinets. The Baby Plan comes with baby items to borrow, including diapers, ready-to-eat baby food and a baby bath. Do note that there is no elevator, guest rooms start on the second floor, and some involve a lot of stairs, so families using a stroller should take care.
Rooms
All 41 rooms are Japanese-style tatami rooms. The non-smoking 12.5-tatami type with a broad window-side space has an indoor onsen bath and is spacious enough for a family trip. The non-smoking 12-tatami rooms have no bath (a toilet is provided); they sit close to the entrance, which makes the communal bath easy to reach. There are also non-smoking tatami rooms of 8 to 10 tatami mats, smoking types of 10 to 12 tatami mats, and special rooms with an antechamber, while the large 20-tatami room can be booked for parties of 5 or more. The indoor onsen baths are household-sized, filled straight from the source with the water changed for each use, and in some of the 10-to-12-tatami smoking rooms the in-room bath has no shower, only a tub faucet. Every room has a toilet with a washing function, and humidifiers are available to borrow. Both dinner and breakfast are served in the dining area; in-room dining is not available.
Dining
Dinner and breakfast are both buffet-style in the dining area Fuji. Seating is at chairs and tables, which makes it easy to settle in with young children. Children's chairs and portable bassinets are available, in limited numbers. The buffet has been renewed with a wider selection of dishes, and there is plenty on it that children love. The ryokan is all-inclusive, with drinks included in the room rate: drinks are unlimited during meals and during the opening hours of the lobby drink corner. The lobby drink corner also has soft drinks and coffee, and it is open from 3 p.m. to 10 p.m. and from 7 a.m. to 10 a.m. Last orders at dinner are at 7:45 p.m.
Baths and Onsen
The water is 100% natural onsen water from Yugawara Onsen; the spring water is of the chloride and sulfate type, weakly alkaline at pH 8.1. The two open-air baths, Senkyo Notenburo and Chikurin no Yu, alternate between men and women; they have no washing area, so guests wash their hair in the communal bath. The men's communal bath, Seisen no Yu, and the women's communal bath, Seikei no Yu, are open from 3 p.m. to midnight and from 5:30 a.m. to 10 a.m. the next morning; for security reasons they cannot be used between midnight and 5:30 a.m. The medium-sized bath on the second floor can be used as a private-hire family bath at 3,000 yen before tax for 45 minutes, and it can be reserved in advance. It is an easy option for families who want to bathe with their children without worrying about other guests. The Baby Plan states that babies may use the communal bath, but it does not say whether children who are not yet out of diapers may enter the tub, so please confirm in advance. Guests with tattoos cannot bathe anywhere except the private-hire family bath, which carries a fee.

Access
The ryokan is at 679 Miyagami, Yugawara-machi, Ashigarashimo-gun, Kanagawa. Guest rooms start on the second floor, and some of them involve a lot of stairs. There is no elevator, so strollers and luggage have to be carried up. The smoking special rooms are on the first and second floors, and even the first floor has about 10 steps (the non-smoking special rooms are on the second and third floors).
