Kids Facilities

Children's meals

Indoor

Elementary school children are served a menu designed for them. Children from age 3 until they start elementary school who are booked with "meals and bedding" receive a kids' meal (omelet rice, fried dishes, clear soup, sashimi, fruit and more). Children aged 0 to 2 are booked without meals, but a children's plate covering dinner and breakfast can be prepared for a separate 2,200 yen (tax included). Meals are served in the private dining rooms.

Modern Japanese-Western Room with indoor bath, 77 sq m (Tokiwadai)

Indoor

A Japanese-Western room for up to 6 guests, with a flat living area laid with Ryukyu tatami. The wide beds can be moved together to close the gap between them, and the ryokan presents it as a room designed with co-sleeping with young children in mind. The indoor bath is roomy enough to share comfortably with a child.

Private-hire bath Mikan-yu

Indoor

A private-hire bath scented with mandarin oranges on the 5th floor of Tokiwadai, which the ryokan recommends for families and groups. It costs 3,300 yen (tax included) for 50 minutes, is booked at the front desk after check-in on the day, and can be used from 3 p.m. to 9 p.m. It is also offered as a dedicated private-hire bath for guests staying in rooms with a shower booth. The rest area has a TV and mineral water.

Overview

Sansuirou (Oku-Yugawara Onsen) is a ryotei ryokan (a traditional inn known for its refined Japanese cuisine) founded in 1933 (Showa 8), set in the mountains of Oku-Yugawara. Breakfast and dinner are served in private dining rooms. For children, the ryokan can prepare a menu for elementary school children, a kids' meal, and a children's plate for ages 0 to 2 (2,200 yen). The guest rooms are spread across four buildings, and they include Japanese-Western rooms that sleep up to 6 and rooms with an onsen open-air bath. Children who use diapers cannot use the communal baths. There are many steps and stairs inside, so take care when moving around.

Rooms

The guest rooms are spread across four buildings: Jurakudai, the Genji Annex, Tokiwadai and Momoyamadai. In Jurakudai, the Japanese-style tatami rooms (50-58 sq m) have 12 tatami mats plus an anteroom and sleep 1 to 4 guests. The Japanese-style tatami rooms with an onsen open-air bath (50 sq m) are for 2 to 3 guests, and the Japanese-Western rooms with an onsen open-air bath (50-64 sq m) sleep 1 to 4. The Jurakudai Japanese-Western rooms (58-64 sq m) are the largest rooms in Jurakudai and are intended for three-generation families and groups. The Genji Annex Japanese-Western rooms with an indoor bath (70-108 sq m) sleep 4 to 6 guests.

In Tokiwadai, the Modern Japanese-Western Room with an indoor bath (77 sq m) sleeps 6, with twin beds plus 23 tatami mats, and its living area is a flat space laid with Ryukyu tatami. The wide beds can be moved together to close the gap between them, and the indoor bath is roomy enough to share comfortably with a child. The Tokiwadai Modern Japanese-Western Rooms with a shower booth (51-60 sq m) have no bathtub, so guests are directed to the communal baths; these rooms do have a shower and a toilet. All rooms in Momoyamadai have beds, and futons are available on request. Momoyamadai's Japanese-Western rooms with an indoor bath (53-68 sq m) sleep 4, the Special Japanese-Western Room with an indoor bath (130 sq m) sleeps 6, and the Japanese-Western Room with an open-air bath (130 sq m) sleeps 1 to 6. The open-air baths in Momoyamadai use heated water, not onsen water. Humidifiers are available to borrow, and the Jurakudai Japanese-style tatami rooms have an air purifier with a humidifying function.

Dining

Breakfast and dinner are both served at tables in private rooms in the private dining area. In-room dining is not available, and groups of 7 or more eat in a banquet hall. The ryokan sets the dinner start time (it cannot be reserved in advance), and dinner runs in timed seatings of 120 minutes. If you will arrive after 7 p.m., please consult the ryokan in advance. For allergies to the specified allergenic ingredients, let the reservation center know at least 3 days in advance and the kitchen will accommodate them as far as possible. Because the kitchen is not fully separated, however, requests that need a guarantee of removal may be declined. According to the ryokan's information for the room-only plan, there is a shop but no place to eat or drink inside the building, and there are no restaurants within walking distance. Staying guests can help themselves to draft beer, coffee, soft drinks and more in the 2nd-floor lobby lounge, depending on the time of day.

Baths and Onsen

Onsen water is drawn from a spring source on the grounds. The communal baths, Kitayama (women) and Hanase (men), are on the 2nd floor of Momoyamadai; they do not swap between men and women, and they are open from 3 p.m. until 11 a.m. the next morning. The rooftop panoramic open-air bath, Ozora, alternates men's and women's hours by day and is reached by climbing about 20 steps from the 8th floor of Jurakudai. For hygiene reasons, children who use diapers cannot use the communal baths, so the bath in your room is an important factor when choosing a room. The private-hire bath Mikan-yu (mandarin orange bath) on the 5th floor of Tokiwadai costs 3,300 yen (tax included) for 50 minutes. Bookings are taken at the front desk after check-in, and it can be used from 3 p.m. to 9 p.m. It is offered as a dedicated private-hire bath for guests staying in rooms with a shower booth. On the plan for Kanagawa Prefecture residents only (August 1, 2026 to March 31, 2027), it can be used once per room for 50 minutes free of charge.
