Yuda Onsen Umenoya is a ryokan in Yuda Onsen, in the heart of Yamaguchi City, Yamaguchi Prefecture. Its pride is onsen water flowing straight from the ryokan's own source, 100% and undiluted, along with kaiseki cuisine built on local ingredients. In 2025 a new communal bath, Hanaume no Yu, opened for staying guests only. There is a varied lineup of rooms, including Japanese-style tatami rooms and Japanese-Western rooms, and the ryokan sets out in-room dining plans for families, co-sleeping rates, and special plans for guests traveling with a baby. It sits in town, about a 10- to 15-minute walk from JR Yuda Onsen Station.
Rooms
Several room types are available, including Japanese-style tatami rooms and Japanese-Western rooms. The Japanese-Western room finished in natural wood (two semi-double beds in the Western area plus an 8-tatami Japanese-style area) is built so that the scent of the wood surrounds you, but it cannot be used by guests traveling with children. Tsubaki, a Japanese-style tatami room with a bath fed straight from the source, has a 10-tatami room and a broad window-side space, with a bathroom and toilet, and sleeps 2 to 5 guests. The barrier-free Japanese-Western room has two single beds and a 6-tatami Japanese-style area for 2 to 4 guests; you can move through the room in a wheelchair from the entrance, there are handrails around the water fixtures, and a shower chair is available to borrow. The standard 10-tatami Japanese-style tatami room is for 1 to 5 guests and comes in versions with a bathroom and toilet or without a bath. The more spacious 10- to 15-tatami Japanese-style tatami rooms are for 2 to 6 guests.
Dining
Depending on the plan, dinner is served either in your room or in a private room, or at the dining venue. In-room dining plans for 5 or more guests are set up in a private room at the dining area, and guests in the Baishintei Japanese-Western room are given a private room from 4 guests upward. Breakfast is served at the dining venue on every plan and is not available as in-room dining. Children's rates are 70% of the adult rate for upper-grade elementary school children and 60% of the adult rate for lower-grade elementary school children, with a kids' meal served to the lower grades. Children aged 4 and over who have not yet started elementary school are charged on the basis of one night with two meals, with the kids' meal. Regarding food allergies, the kitchen cannot prepare a separate dish using substitute ingredients, and it cannot serve meals to guests with severe allergies. If you are not able to eat raw food (for example during pregnancy) or would rather not eat meat (except where meat extract is also a problem), the ryokan can accommodate you if you let them know in advance, but if you cannot eat fish of any kind, serving a meal is considered difficult. Guests are asked to refrain from drinking beverages they have brought in during dinner and breakfast, though there is no such restriction on drinks for babies.
Baths and Onsen
The onsen is 100% from the ryokan's own source, flowing straight through with no water added and no reheating, and it is a weakly alkaline simple onsen. In January 2025 a new communal bath for staying guests only, Hanaume no Yu, opened, an airy space with an open-air bath, a communal bath, a sauna and a cold plunge bath. The other communal bath is open to day-use bathers as well as staying guests. Under the enforcement ordinance of the Public Bathhouse Law, mixed bathing with children aged 7 and over is not permitted. If you choose Tsubaki, the guest room with a bath fed straight from the source, your family can enjoy 100% source onsen on your own whenever you like. The 150 yen bathing tax applies only to the adult rate for junior high school students and older; there is no separate charge for children of elementary school age and under.

It is about a 10- to 15-minute walk from Yuda Onsen Station on the JR Yamaguchi Line. If you take the bus from Shin-Yamaguchi Station, it is about a 3-minute walk from the Yuda Onsen bus stop. By car, it is about 15 minutes from the Ogori IC on the Chugoku Expressway to Umenoya. Parking is free of charge. The ryokan does not offer a shuttle.
