You can fish from the embankment in the courtyard, and iidako (webfoot octopus) fishing is popular in autumn. It is an experience you can enjoy right on the grounds without leaving the ryokan during your stay, and it is featured in photos as a popular autumn activity.
Overview
Wakura Onsen Yukemuri no Yado Biwanso is the longest-established ryokan in Wakura Onsen, with a setting overlooking Nanao Bay and an abundant supply of hot spring water. Because of the 2024 Noto Peninsula Earthquake, it has been operating on a temporary basis since November 11, 2025 while restoration work continues, and normal operations are expected to resume in autumn 2027 or later. The changing rooms of both the men's and women's communal baths have baby beds, and baby seats are provided inside the bathing areas. There are many steps inside the building, so getting around by wheelchair remains difficult.
Rooms
Guest rooms come in three types: Yu no Hana-tei, Shiomi-tei and Shirasagi-tei. Shirasagi-tei was demolished as a result of the earthquake, and a new Shirasagi-tei is scheduled for completion in autumn 2027. The Japanese-Western rooms in Yu no Hana-tei with a semi-open-air onsen bath have a spacious flat barrier-free layout and Tempur bedding. Shiomi-tei has rooms with larger capacities, suited to groups. Layouts vary by room and include 8 tatami mats, 10 tatami mats, 10 plus 4.5 tatami mats, 12 tatami mats, 12 plus 4.5 tatami mats, and 18 plus 4.5 tatami mats. Because the ryokan is currently on temporary operation during earthquake restoration work, only a very small number of rooms can be used.
Dining
Guests staying in Yu no Hana-tei dine at the restaurant Umi, and guests staying in Shiomi-tei dine in the private dining rooms Sai. Sai was demolished in the earthquake but reopened on August 1, 2026 after construction work. At present, the only place that can serve meals at all times is the small restaurant Umi, which can seat only about 5 groups, so on days when it is full only room-only plans are sold. For children, there are dining chairs and tableware for young children, along with children's yukata and slippers, as well as kids' meals and kids' plates made by hand by the staff. Food allergies can be accommodated as far as possible if you get in touch in advance by message, phone or email.
Baths and Onsen
The men's communal bath is on the first floor and the women's communal bath is on the second floor, both fed by the abundant source of the celebrated Wakura Onsen. The spring water is a saline spring containing earth chlorides, said to be good for rheumatism, neuralgia, weak constitutions in children and chronic women's conditions. The baths are open from 5 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. and from 1 p.m. until 1 a.m. Because of shore-protection work, the men's open-air bath has been removed for now, so the open-air bath can be used only in the women's communal bath. A private-hire onsen bath, Sumi, opened on August 8, 2026 for staying guests only, at 3,300 yen per session, running for 45 minutes from the top of each hour. Construction work is under way, however, so there is no sea view from the private-hire onsen bath.

In autumn, families can enjoy iidako (webfoot octopus) fishing from the courtyard. Reaching the women's communal bath previously meant taking the stairs, as the escalator could not be used, but an elevator was completed in August 2026 and it is now easier to get to. There are still many steps inside the building, so getting around by wheelchair remains difficult.
Access
A free shuttle to and from Wakura Onsen Station runs between 7 a.m. and 7:30 p.m., and same-day reservations are accepted. Parking is on the opposite side of the road, is free and needs no reservation. The ryokan is about an hour by car from central Kanazawa and 5 minutes from the Wakura IC.
