Taketomijima Akaneya is a red-tile suite villa limited to two groups, tucked quietly into the townscape preservation district of Taketomi Island. Only the Japanese-style tatami room is available for stays, a 14-tatami room with its own private garden where a family can relax at an unhurried pace. Children of elementary school age and older are charged the adult rate, and co-sleeping is available for ages 0 to 5; because there are many breakable items in the room, families with children are asked to be considerate of their surroundings. A shuttle runs from Taketomi Port, and guests travel to and from the villa by car.
Rooms
Akaneya has only two guest rooms, a Japanese-style tatami room and a Western-style room, and because bookings for the Western-style room are currently suspended, only the Japanese-style tatami room is available. The tatami room measures 48 sq m including the engawa veranda, and its private garden is 113 sq m. The 14-tatami room is laid with tatami woven from Ryukyu igusa rush, and wood from Taketomi Island is used throughout, down to details such as the door handles. Stays for 3 guests are arranged upon consultation. There are many breakable items in the room, so families with children are asked to be considerate of their surroundings.
Dining
The standard plan is room-only. On Taketomi Island, every place serving evening meals takes reservations only, and no place serves breakfast. If you choose a plan with meals, dinner is a special course or a three-tiered bento box from a partner restaurant, and breakfast is bread made with Okinawan salt and natural yeast. If you have allergies or ingredients you would rather avoid, the villa can accommodate them if you get in touch in advance.
Bath
The mosaic tiles in the bathroom were assembled by hand by the owner and craftspeople, and you bathe surrounded by the scent of aroma oil. Several aromas are provided, so you can choose the scent you like for your bath.

Access
From Ishigaki Port it is about 10 minutes by high-speed ferry to Taketomi Port, and from Taketomi Port to Akaneya guests travel by car or tuk-tuk. If you let the villa know in advance what time you will arrive at Taketomi Port, someone will meet you there. On fine days the pickup is by tuk-tuk.
