Shima Onsen Sekizenkan Kashotei Sansou

Stays with children are limited to the Kashotei building. Sanso is a wooden building where sound carries, so children of elementary school age and younger cannot stay there. Kashotei's standard rooms hold 1 to 6 guests, with co-sleeping for up to 3 children.

Children aged 3 and over are charged a facility fee of 2,200 yen even without meals or futon bedding, while children under 3 stay free of charge if they need neither. Infants and young children staying with meals and bedding are charged 50% of the adult rate, and elementary school children 70%.

Elementary school children are served the same kaiseki course as adults, but this can be changed to a hearty kids' plate on request, and children under school age are served a hearty kids' plate. An okuizome celebration meal for a baby's 100th-day milestone is also available for 5,500 yen; the serving vessels are limited in number, so it must be reserved by 3 p.m. 5 days in advance. If you have a food allergy, notify the ryokan at least 3 days before your stay; it cannot accommodate severe allergy symptoms or change its stocks and seasonings.

Yes. The two Sanso no Yu baths in Sanso are free private-hire baths that can be locked from the inside, available from 5 a.m. to 1 a.m. the next morning, and staying guests can use all of the onsen baths in the Main Building, Sanso and Kashotei. From August 2026, however, the paid private-hire baths Seki and Zen are being demolished and cannot be used, and Kashotei's communal bath Mori no Yu opens from 3 p.m. during the construction period.

From Nakanojo Station it is 40 minutes by bus to the last stop, or 25 minutes by taxi. By car it is about 60 minutes from the Shibukawa-Ikaho IC or the Tsukiyono IC on the Kan-Etsu Expressway. There is free parking for 50 cars with no reservation required, but note that the parking for Kashotei and Sanso is in a different location from the Main Building's parking.
